Spring Into TTC! June 2014 POAS Thread

@simplyfelicity: strange that the first chart says you have a lower chance on O, and the other 2 charts say you have a higher chance on O. That's always my biggest concern - should I try to hit 1-O or O if I can only pick one?

  2. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@KelLeeLeee: I know the charts totally conflict, but what I like is that they show that O-2 and O-1 are very similar. It really is a toss up. O-1 is obviously better because O might already be 12 hours + but then it's good just in case you o'ed a little later. Especially if you use something like Conceive Plus or Preseed to help keep the swimmers alive a little longer (at least that's what some say.) Basically, this was the longest non answer ever.

@simplyfelicity: Thanks for the charts! You are the sweetest! That does make me feel like I have more of a chance then I thought! If/when I get to next cycle I'm going to use CBE Digital OPKs and see if they help with our BD timing. We start too early and then just get sick of it!

  4. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@HappyBluebird: No problem! This is what happens when you're a bored teacher and it's too damn hot to do anything outside . I used the CBE digital this month and really liked it. I bought the regular, not the advanced. The advanced is especially good if you have a short surge and need more of a heads up by tracking your estrogen surge that happens before your LH surge. I like the regulars because they don't track you through the month, so you can use your leftovers the next month. I bought a 20 pack on amazon for 35 bucks and only used four this cycle. I hope I dont need the rest! I used cheapies from the dollar store and then confirmed with the CBE. I need to get a hobby...

    clementine / 957 posts

@simplyfelicity: wait is TTC not a hobby?? It certainly seems like one with the amount of time and energy I put into it! Having a real hobby is definitely helpful in trying not to obsess too much! I've been whipping out more crafts and house projects than I ever have before!

I will have to decide between the advanced and the regular. With my cycles getting longer and longer I'm having no clue at all when I'm going to O. I tried the cheapie OPKs but I think I just got too confused! I will have to do some research!

@HappyBluebird: to me it's more science experiment than hobby what with my little "lab" in the bathroom... And the constant analysis!

Speaking of which, I haven't seen too many charts lately. Anyone trying to decipher the mystery of O date. Over analyzing TWW temps? Post away, I love charts

  7. HappyBluebird

    clementine / 957 posts

@Anya: Very true, a science experiment is a much better way to describe it!

I don't need any serious analyzing of my chart but here is mine if you wanna see it!

Hahaha, I was talking to a friend of mine about TTC this weekend. She is nowhere near this life stage and was SHOCKED when I said this upcoming week was going to be the one where we'd try to make it happen. She was like "OMG, you can pinpoint it to the WEEK?!" Oh, girl, if you even saw the amateur chemistry set I've got going on my bathroom shelf by now....

@angelachase: Love it! I was talking to a friend recently who is pregnant and she has no idea about ovulation, cycle length, luteal phases...I wish I could go back to my ignorant phase! It obviously worked for her. I almost forgot that you don't necessarily need to know all this stuff to get KU.

@simplyfelicity: Thanks for asking. You're super awesome! (Really all y'all are...I mean have you ever looked at the other website communities...they're scary mean) Anyways, I'll try not to write a book...

Eh, not hopeful. My cycle's been super long and wonky. I had cm ovulation signs a bit back but no extended temp rise to confirm, so who knows. I've got an ob/gyn appointment tomorrow with a new doc. My old doc is super busy and her scheduling nurse didn't seem concerned at my weirdly long cycle, which just made me mad. Gah! I'll try not to vent, but I really really want to.

I expect I'll probably have to POAS there tomorrow and maybe a blood test at this point, but who knows. I've been telling DH for awhile now that I've just felt weird. I never get backaches unless AF is visiting, but I've had them A LOT during the last week in May and last week...to the point where I'm uncomfortable. Also dull achy cramps, but no AF. It's just freaking weird at this point. I'd welcome any thoughts or other experiences on the matter...and anything I should ask the doc about.

@angelachase: Its funny how much you think you know or don't know, then you start this process and learn so much!

@Hoots: Long wonky cycles are never fun! Glad you are getting to see a new doctor, fingers crossed for you and good news!

I actually took myself out of trying this cycle. I usually O between cycle day 14-17 but I got to 21 without O so I quit the opks and temping. In all honesty we were reluctant to try this month since I was getting to the latter stages of interviewing for a new job (and I just accepted it last week...part time finally!) I won't be able to start until August so we're going to hold off on trying for a couple more months. So for now its cheerleading for me! Good luck to those still to test!

@Hoots: Wishing you the best at your appointment! Hopefully, the new doctor is really helpful and you get some answers. I totally agree that HB is an amazing community. I was on Baby Center for about a week and really prefer the small-town, helpful feel of HB. Some of the users were kinda scary. Also, a lady posted pictures of her cervical mucus. Yup. Barf.

@clover: Good luck on the new job!!! Maybe stress over the job was delaying ovulation? Hope July is your month!

Hi everyone! I never roll-called here as I'm very new to this site and it was my first month TTC-didn't think it would actually work...but it did (somehow-I think I got pregnant from O-5?!?!)! Got my BFP today! The day before my 29th birthday-best present ever. This is my first let's hope it sticks!

@simplyfelicity: Stress definitely could be a factor (just took my big recertification exam this month as well), I like the idea of putting it on that rather than thinking my body is messing with me for no reason.

Looks like I'm out for this month. New doc gave me a script for Provera. Blood testing on Thursday and calling to schedule ultrasound in the morning. Next appointment 7/22 to go over everything. She said she's pretty much ordering everything. She said she didn't feel anything out of the ordinary, but she wants to check for PCOS. Apparently, everything seems to point to that except my weight. So I guess, I'll roll over to July?

Good luck to everyone. I'll make sure to keep checking back. Hopefully, we'll get some more bfps this month.
