I just started working again and we just hired a part time nanny.....I'm going to be paying over the table and need to figure out how the heck to do payroll withholdings, SS, and what forms I need to file with state, etc.
Any step by step instructions out there or tips?

@winniebee: We used a nanny payroll service... the fines for not doing payroll properly are crazy high where we live!

We only had a nanny for about 3 months, but it was so complicated that we used a service - and even then it was still overwhelming. FIL is trying to pay for MIL's home healthcare on the books and does it himself - it is a constant source of stress for him. Also the rules are different in every state.

We use a service. I figured it was worth the extra $ because of the time we would have to put in to figure it all out and the risk of doing it wrong.

We just use our accounting firm - he does our taxes already so we just email him hours every two weeks and they direct deposit the money to my mother and we get a stub via email.

We use a nanny payroll service - Savvy Nanny Payroll Services. I think it's $30/mo. There are some cheaper options, but many weren't available in our state or had hidden fees, etc.
