Yep one of my suite mates from freshman year is one of my bffs!

Yes! She is still my best friend.

I'm still in touch with a couple suite mates but not actually the 2 I lived in the same room with-- we just fell out of touch. One moved abroad

One of mine is here visiting right now! She's my absolute best friend. I'm FB friends with another, and don't talk to the last one at all. But we didn't get along terribly well in college, so we made no effort.

Freshmen year - Yes; we were already friends in HS

Sophomore year - Lived in a single

Junior year - Nope

Senior year - Had 3 roommates, still friends with one

Yes!! Two of my best friends still!!

@twodoghouse: that's awesome! I've heard so many horror stories with random roommate assignments

@sandy: I worked in res life later in college and so much care goes into the assignments at my school. I think it's a real advantage of going to a very small school (2500 students total!).

None. I randomly ran into one about 7 years ago, but I don't even know their last names!

One is my BFF. She was a friend from kindergarten all the way through high school. When we decided to go to the same college, we requested to be roommates. Never had any major arguments or anything. She was my roommate freshman year and then her and two more friends (one from middle school) and I lived together my other 2 years (I graduated a year early). We are still super close, live in the same neighborhood, and are having babies within 2 months of each other

The other roommates? Nope. I was close to one until last year (the friend from middle school), but we've just grown apart.

I'm FB friends with all but one of them (I had 8 over 4 years - 4 assigned, 4 chosen), and am still IRL friends with 5 of the 8.

My sophomore year, the friend I had chosen to live with had to drop out of school, so I was randomly placed with a freshman. I was SO upset, but she ended up being one of my best college friends, and we're still close 12 years later.

Freshman roommate - no!!! We hated each other.

Nope. Not even fb friends. I'm so old it was before texting and fb so we lost touch about 3 years after college. Later found each other on fb but I didn't invite her to my wedding and we had it out and she unfriended me... booooooo

Some are my BFFs but they live across the country, so we don't see each other a lot.

Yes! She is one of my BFFs, although we sometimes don't stay in touch as well as we should - she's in a double masters program at an Ivy league across the country and I just had a baby! But we always pick up where we left off when we visit.
