So, I dismantled our cradle swing this morning. C is outgrowing it and she has figured out how to launch herself out of it onto the floor... so yeah, it's getting packed up.
However, DH tossed the box for it and I'm not sure how to pack it away to protect it for use for our next baby in a few years. How do you store baby gear you want to keep?

Plastic bins! They're a better long-term storage solution than cardboard. They don't hold moisture or deteriorate, and can be reused.

We had to go buy some plastic bins. I did save the large box from our convertible seat to pack away a bunch of stuff we will store indoors.

We saved our boxes for baby related stuff and store them on shelving in the basement, but anything we haven't kept packaging for goes into a rubbermaid container. They're amazing!

We use big Rubbermaid containers, too. Usually, I wash the fabroc parts and put those in trash bag, and then place the trach bag and the plastc/metal/etc... pieces in the container together.

Like Minnie girl we got some cheap target plastic bins for DS's clothes. I think I will need a plethora of them though because I fill one whole bin of only NB-3 mos. lol I already have a full one of 18mos+ clothes.
As for the bigger items such as exersaucer and swing- I have nooo idea how/where I'll store them because we live in an apartment! I might ask if I can store them at my parents in the basement because we won't have room for them at all.

@Coco Bee: I put the clothes in space bags, and then put those into the containers. It saves a lot of space that way!

Ours is just sitting in the porch. Not a good place for it, but we have no good place for it.

I've already disassembled the bouncy chair and the playmat gym. I'm storing them in Rubbermaid totes.
If you have a bunch of larger toys that need more space, a tote that's sized to store plastic Christmas trees might work (and let you cram a lot of items into one thing).
I need to put up shelving in the unfinished part of our basement so I can start organizing the stuff we have in storage.

For clothes, vacuum bags!!! They are awesome. Then we put those in plastic bins. The rest has gone in doubled up plastic garbage bags.

for bulky but collapsible items (jumperoo), I dismantled and it's fairly flat. It's tucked under our guestroom bed. Clothing is all in plastic totes. I haven't found a good place to put the infant car seat yet.

I saved a bunch of boxes to store the bigger items in, rubbermaid totes for smaller items. And if its odd-sized? Garbage bags that are clearly labeled!
