I am due in early August and am literally having insomnia over our stroller choice! What should I get and what features should I look for/test out in the store?
We will be using a stroller:
1.. For lots of long walks through our neighborhood (paved) with our dog
2. Car trips to the mall, grocery store, restaurants, shopping, etc.
3. For walks through town (terrain is a little rougher)
4. Probably for jogging on paved trails and sidewalks (although we both tend to run at the gym now and it has free childcare...and I am ok with getting a second stroller/BOB for this later if we really need it)
I like:
1. Bassinet (so we won't always have to put her in the carseat for the first few months...but I do want to be able to use the carseat too)
2. Rear and forward facing seat
3. Ability to lay flat
4. Easy fold (and ability to stand by itself if that's important?)
5. Lightweight (duh!) although we don't anticipate doing a lot of air travel
6. Ability to add a second child, but I wouldn't want to get a super bulky stroller just for this feature since I think we will wait til #1 is around 3 to have another baby.
As far as the budget goes, I am pretty sure we will either receive it as a group gift or be able to get it with gift cards/etc after the shower. That's how we rationalized our Dyson and I'm so glad we splurged on that!!! I would probably be a little embarrassed to register for an $800 stroller but I would quickly get over it if I fall in love with the stroller since we'll use it a lot.
