@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Whoa!!!!

1. It seems that all those pics were social media pics? The parents should be mad at their child in their posting & sharing & even having been there(!!!), not at a homeowner that had his home broken into & destroyed! What the heck is wrong with them to really be looking anywhere but their own kid?!

2. If I did something like that, I would have been D. E. A. D!

3. My kids hope they are never stupid enough to do something like that!

I think every single one of them should have to deal with the legal consequences of breaking & entering (if they can find who started the party), trespassing, & vandalism along with restitution for the damages, whether monetary or working it off fixing the home or helping clean it. If I was in the car with a friend who robbed a store (even if I didn't know) I'd still be in massive legal trouble! What they did is ridiculous!

To start off. I would have dragged her to his house to help clean. Then, I would turn her in for breaking and entering. I am a little sad that I would potentially risk her hating me forever, but at this point I obviously haven't done such a great job at this parenting thing if she doesn't know that what she did was wrong to begin with.

This is CRAZY! I never would have done anything like this! I was WAAAAAAAAY too afraid of my mom to do something like this!!!! And I hope my kids feel the same sort of fear, haha.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do! I agree with making them apologize and help clean up. Also potentially turning them into the police! And you can be sure they'd be GROUNDED until they moved out!!!!

This is nuts. What is wrong with teenagers???

If I found out my child was at this party I would totally turn them in.

@Mrs. Jacks: Maybe they knew who owned the house and that he wasn't there a lot? Or maybe they just had gone by the house and knew the owners hadn't been there in a while?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I understand that, but what about concern for alarm systems, other family members coming by etc.

Hey it's entirely possible that these douchebag kids would break and enter to throw a party... There's just a lot of moving parts to make it happen. I just wanted to go on th record as saying there has to be more to the story...

I was just about to post this. This story makes me angry because he offered for them to help clean up and set up for a fundraiser to make up for it. And only one parent and one kid showed up. LO would be doing that and much more to make up for it. My parents would have been furious but I also would have probably offered to go up there on my own to help him.

oh my god. If I had done anything like this my parents would have locked me up in my room for the rest of my life.

If my kids do stuff like this... I don't even know. I'm a big stickler for the law... maybe I would let them get arrested. I'm glad I know a police officer in our city... ideally they'd spend the night in jail but not get formally charged. Then I would make them go help clean everything up and send all their allowance/paychecks/any kind of money they had to the homeowner for a good year.

Oh man, I would have been dead. I probably would have rather ran away from home than deal with my parents if I had done that! My Dad probably would have taken me straight to the house to do as much work as I could, and then have me arrested for good measure on top of it all.

@Mrs. Taco: Then the parents are even bigger d-bags than the kids . . . they really think colleges don't look at social network activity for their potential students? Their college chances--and future employment chances--were already damaged by their own tweets #realitycheck.

I am not making any judgments about their parenting in general, just their decision with regard to this incident. #noshame

@Mrs. Jacks: I think small town, everyone (or at least the kids who had the idea for the party) knows the family (and that this home is their vacation home and is rarely occupied.

I wouldn't even think of doing something like this because my mom would have made my life a living hell! I'd be too afraid!

Those kids posted those photos on social media--I'm really surprised by the parents' reactions. Seems like the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

@blackbird: the fact that only one student and parent showed up to help clean blows my mind.

The more I read about this the angrier I get, apparently they stole an eagle statute that was part of a memorial for his still born grandson, they peed on the carpets and caused about 20K of damage! they should have jumped at his opportunity to come back and clean up

@Mrs. Taco: Yes I also read that the parents are wanting to sue him. They are not apologizing or offereing to clean up or pay, but they have the guts to be angry. I think the kids know they have parents that will let them get away with this nonsense, thats why they did it in the first place

@MamaMoose: sorry. It sounds like hear kids were really that bad, though. I want to see he best in people and this is just a shade too far!

And a lot of them are putting snarky and snotty comments on their twitter. They are basically not even sorry

i saw this story on tv and i think he lives in florida and the house they trashed is his vacation home in upstate new york.

My parents would have beat the living daylights out of me if I did this. Literally. I am stunned that this is the reaction of these parents. How do their kids still have permission to leave the house, post on social media etc? This is crazy, they are all awful.
