I was happily pinning away yesterday... a friend of mine asked for some advice on maternity style so I was pinning an inspiration boar and it reminded me how I'd wished I'd invested in a few more pieces for my pregnancy...
ANYWAY so a friend texted me last night, "omg you're preggers?!?! congrats!!!"
"ummm what?!"
"Well I saw all your maternity stuff on pinterest so you had me wondering."
"um no. I like pinning."

Ugh social media is the devil! I was on Good Reads a while back adding books to my "To Read" list and a bunch of them were pregnancy related before I was pregnant, and people started asking if I was pregnant. I deleted all my friends on Good Reads after that.

@highwire: I've always had a whatever attitude about pinterest. I've seen some other ladies here complaining about not wanting to pin baby stuff before getting pg... but I know a few friends who did! It's so "meh" to me. People can speculate all they want - I'll be TELLING the important people.
Also I think it's sad to "ruin the surprise" if I was pregnant!! this person was a good friend and my brother ruined my announcement for #1 so I'd hate for it to happen again.

Hahaha! I don't really know how to tell who can see my stuff on Pinterest? I didn't think I was sharing it with anyone and I think I definitely checked for it NOT to update my FB friends, but when I got pregnant, one of DH's friends said that they kind of had been expecting our announcement bc his wife saw some of my baby stuff on Pinterest. I don't really know how....

Pinterest now has hidden boards no one can see but you. I've been pinning baby stuff there (I think it just came out a week ago?)

I don't understand why all of these social media sites have to be connected! So annoying! Last night I was placing an order online through Pei Wei and it had an option to share my order on Facebook...umm why would I do that?!

@lawbee11: it's not connected to my Facebook so for awhile no one I knew was following me. But people search your name, so now tons of my friends are following me.
@StrawberryBee: yeah I saw that. Like I said I don't really care and I have so many baby and kids related boards that there is no way to keep all of them private.

I'm afraid to pin anything I wouldn't want the world to see for that reason! I didn't connect it to my facebook but I people could still find me. I'm even nervous for the secret boards... maybe I'll make up a fake name-- Foodnerd has a nice ring to it.
I'm definitely not ready for people to be suspicious yet.

That's funny! My mom always guesses which one of my cousins is pregnant by looking at their recent pins. She told me a couple weeks ago this certain cousin has to be pregnant, well certain cousin confided in me 2 days ago that she is going through the same crap as me and not ovulating. Stop guessing mom lol!

@StrawberryBee: I love the hidden boards! I was using a fake name so no one could find me and being all weirdly secretive to friends that wanted to find me. Now I plopped all my nursery stuff on a secret board and I don't have to be a weirdo anymore!!

I admit to wondering if friends were pregnant due to things that they post. One friend posted maternity picture inspiration pics so I assumed I'd see an announcement soon, but about a month later she posted maternity pictures she took of a friend. Guess we can't assume things like that!

A lot of my friends and I had boards called "for baby one day" and I started it well before we were even trying so I couldnt be "found out"

That's definitely annoying. I always name boards things like "for the future" so I don't get asked about random stuff. Although it does make me speculate when people start pinning baby stuff...I never ask about it though.

@birdofafeather: it's not like they're new boards!! I was pregnant 9 months ago I'm just adding to them. But I guess people seeing me adding to them is reason to speculate
