I have had 2 failed fresh cycles and will be doing our first FET on Tuesday! I am trying to remain as hopeful as I can, but completely understand how you feel. It's so scary!

But, I have heard that FETs can be VERY successful as your body doesn't have a ton of drugs running through it from the stims. I have noticed a huge difference in my stress level during this FET cycle. I've only had to go in for ultrasounds twice (I live 2 hours away from my RE, so this is a huge deal) and then one more time for the transfer.

As far as transferring one or two, with you being so young, I would say to just transfer one. The main reason that I say that is that a friend of mine transferred one and it split, so she still ended up with twins! For me, I would be scared that one of the two transferred would split and you would end up with more than 2! But, I'm just extra cautious as we have one child already.

So I don't have any experience with a fresh transfer that failed but I have had a failed frozen embryo transfer and then a successful frozen embryo transfer. Like you I have no fertility issues (and neither does my DH) - we did IVF for genetic testing issues/etc.

In any event, I completely understand how completely devastating it is to have a failed transfer. We only had 2 embryos suitable for transfer and when my first transfer failed it was heartbreaking and almost paralyzing bc suddenly we were left with our one and only and the best one had already been transferred.

I will say I do know many others who had a failed fresh transfer and then went on to have a successful FET

Not sure if your doc when into it but basically my labs following my transfer showed there was no implantation at all. He was shocked and puzzled bc I have zero fertility issues. His best guess was that my body was not dealing well with even the minimal amount of IVF meds that they do to best prepare our bodies for the transfer. So he advised me to do an unmedicated cycle for my next FET. Bc I have zero fertility issues he thought it would be highly likely that the transfer would be successful without the meds. So that's what we did and it was successful.

Not sure if that's the best course of action for you, but just know that just bc this cycle failed doesn't mean the next cycle will also fail. Best of luck!

I only have experience from first FET but my RE told me the research shows FETs are a bit more successful. Along with allowing your body to rest and not have to recover come the stims from a fresh cycle, the embryos are also frozen and thawed... so one might say they are heartier to withstand the freezing and thawing process.

Though, I've seen success with fresh cycles and failures with FET so unfortunately sometimes things don't work out. Sorry, IF sucks. I do wish you all the luck. I know how nerve wracking it was to put all your money into an IVF cycle that might not work and the thought of doing another one if it failed was pretty much out of the question.

We transferred two and we ended up with twins. We always wanted twins and we were 'mostly' financially stable to afford them. We don't have to pay for daycare but the cost of twins in daycare is scary. We were aware of the splitting risk and held our breath to find out if there was 1,2, 3 or 4 in there. (We would be thankful for anything. We made it through 3 years of IF. I think we can handle however many took.) For us, there was only two and both made it through. Though, I did have some multiple related pregnancy complications. I'm thankful that my twins are healthy.
