I'm hoping to go on a weekend baby moon somewhere in the New England area (ideally within a few hours drive of Boston, but not Boston itself) sometime this month. I would love any and all suggestions about great places to go/stay/eat, as I'd like to do something new rather than defaulting to our usual favorites.

What are your usual favorites?
My first choice would be Portland ME, followed by North Conway NH. Bar Harbor, ME and Burlington VT are fantastic, but a much longer drive.

We were just in Jackson nh and had a great time, we also really love bar harbor and Maine in general

I recently went to Newport, RI and it was a really nice trip. There are lots of restaurants on the water. For activities, cliff walk and touring the mansions are fun and pregnancy friendly

Bar Harbor, ME is beautiful when I went a few years ago. I just moved to New England so other than Boston, I don't have any more suggestions.

I vote for cape cod or Nantucket depending on your budget.

We live near Boston but live to visit North Conway, Stowe, VT, Bar Harbor/Acadia, and Portsmouth, NH.

Portland Maine is my happy place. It's so so cute and the food is amazing.

We used points at a hotel in Manchester vt once and loved it! We went in summer but would be great in fall. I think it was called the equinox? A little longer drive than some places. Our baby moon for #1 was a long weekend on Nantucket off season - so quiet!

Newport or Block Island, RI (could fly into Providence to reduce drive time)
Cape Cod
Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket if you are willing to fly there as drive + ferry would eat up too much time.

@Rocker2014: Our usual favorite is RI (Bristol, Newport area, Block Island, food in Providence), and we spent a weekend last year in Tanglewood in western MA, which was lovely - great b&b's and music. We do lots of short day trips to the North Shore, which has nice beaches. It's been awhile since we've been to ME/NH/VT, and these are all really great suggestions.

@periwinklebee: our favorite weekend spots have been Portsmouth, nh and Woodstock, vt. Jackson nh and stowe are also other good suggestions. Bar Harbor is awesome but it is a drive.

@Rocker2014: I'm jealous, the north shore is so amazing. There are so many great places in RI, and the traffic is usually a lot better getting there compared to the cape. We love Colt State Park (on a peninsula in Narragansett bay), which is near the Newport Cliff Walk (not the greatest on weekends in the middle of summer when crowds are insane but otherwise gorgeous). Block Island is gorgeous, though a bit more of a trip to get to since it involves a ferry.

Woodstock, VT! I'm actually here now visiting family and it's picture-perfect.
The Woostock Inn is amazing. The Apple Hill Inn is also spectacular. Definitely eat dinner at Simon Pearce which is a few miles away. There's lots to do- shopping, farms, scenic hikes, river tubing, kayaking, get a massage...

My vote is for Portsmouth, NH or Portland, ME. Bar Harbor is great but quite a drive and also generally completely booked up already this time of year (and $$$$$$$)
If you end up in/near Portland I can give you more specific suggestions!

I second all the Portland Maine suggestions!
However, also check out the Mountain View Inn, in NH. We got married there, and its a beautiful place, with a lot to do on the property. (its very close to Mt. Washington). Its a small resort that reminds me of the Dirty Dancing resort, with stuff to do. My husband and his groomsmen did axe throwing the morning of our wedding!

You've gotten some great suggestions and you can't really go wrong with any of them. I live in Boston and we did trips to Portsmouth NH, Portland ME, Burlington VT, and Nantucket while I was pregnant. I think Portland was my favorite, mostly due to the many amazing things that I ate there.
Nantucket was also great, but we had our toddler with us on that trip so it wasn't very relaxing. I also really love the White Mountains in NH (didn't do that while pregnant but I imagine it was be lovely).

My suggestions:
Bar Harbor, ME (if you feel like driving)
Kennebunkport, ME - SO CUTE, much closer... we stayed at the cutest little cottage there, I can get you the name if you want.
Portsmouth, ME is also great as mentionedLake Winnepesauke (various spots to stay on):
Meredith, NH - Stay at Church Landing (they have a few different properties, they're all great)
Wolfeboro, NH - further north, ADORABLE, stay on the lakeOr a night at the Mount Washington Hotel in NH - so pretty.
We go to RI often and usually visit Westerly, RI.... If you feel like having a very fancy night - stay at the Ocean House in Watch Hill. AMAZING, next door to Taylor Swifts house

@periwinklebee: If you have SPG points or just feel like a splurge the Equinox in Manchester VT is quite nice. I'd also recommend Hanover NH, Porland ME, the Cape, Newport, or Jackson NH - many of which have been recommended. Let us know where you decide and I can give more specific recommendations!

Sounds like a lot of these suggestions are very nature-y, but I have to put in my two cents about Providence, RI. Lived there for a year, and it was the best year ever. So many cheap, omg-unbelievable eats, so many things to do and see, and such a walkable town. Highly recommend it!

I totally forgot about Cape Cod, mostly b/c its not a vacation destination for me, my grandfather lives there and we go once a year to visit him. It closes up real fast, if you go much later then early October many things won't be open. We usually target our visit for late September early October so the majority of restaurants and things to do are open.

Wow, these are all awesome suggestions! Now the only hard part is figuring out where to go - this thread makes me wish I'd been more adventurous in my pre-baby days.
