DS just started walking at 14 months and he's tall with big feet. His current shoes are from and they aren't the best for a new walker, plus he's growing out of them. He needs a 5.5 or 6. Any suggestions before I order from Stride Rite?

We love sea wees (the same company makes saltwater sandals). Adjustable, durable, and comfy. They run large, fyi.

@Iced Tea: that's what I was going to suggest! DD just started walking a couple weeks ago and that's what she wears.

Lily and Jack...they are on BabySteals right now. I also love stride rite though. I got a pair of stride rite and a pair of Lily and Jack for variety.

I really loved Lily and Jack too; loved that their soles are soft but also sturdy, not like the mocs that DD initially wore.
I never really liked stride rite... DD was in a pair of new balance sneakers that we really loved.

Stride Rite has a new line for Target. About half the price of the regular shoes. I just can't see paying $40 for shoes they will grow out of in a couple of months.

Pediped Originals are great for new walkers - soft but sturdy enough to wear outside. My 14 month old has been walking for about two months and wears them.

We liked See Kai Run smaller when she was a new walker, although her feet were not that big (not sure if they go up to that size). We mostly buy Stride Rite now, although the quality is somewhat inconsistent and I mostly buy them because she needs wide sizes and so few companies make those. We've had a few pairs of normal Stride Rite (mostly fine, although the sandals got super smelly), one pair from the outlet (fell apart immediately), and one pair of the Target stride rite brand (lasted through the season and looked great).
