It's mentioned here all the time, but we are having great luck with the baby Merlin's magic sleepsuit. C isn't rolling but has been seriously fightin the swaddling for weeks. Got the sleep suit this week and her night sleep seems better- there is no way we could go without any swaddle/ muffling device right now.

I give C an Angel Dear lovey til he's sound asleep - that was the advice I got here! I slip it away after. That way when he rubs his face its with something soft.

@Pepper: it won't entirely prevent rolling but would discourage it because it's pretty stiff. But it definitely would be possible to roll in it if he was determined. C is only 12 weeks and while it keeps her from flailing her arms she can get them to her mouth if she tries. So maybe not worth $40 if he's going to roll it in anyway. It says it's only meant for back sleeping, though would not be as dangerous as a swaddle on belly.

Did you go cold turkey?
With my son I did it slowly. At bedtime he was swaddled like normal. After he woke up the 1st time I would swaddle with 1 arm out. We did this for about a week.
Then I would put him to bed with one arm out and when he woke up I would swaddle his lower body with both arms out.
It took a good 2 weeks but my little one was addicted to the swaddle and did best when weaned slowly - after that we were done!
