Do you / Did you swaddle with LO's arms in? And if so, did you put them up so the hands were by the face, or did you put them down by their side?
I can't figure out the best way to swaddle my LO. Sometimes she seems to want her arms out, and other times the arms startle her. I usually keep them in to start, but she never seems content with where they are.

We swaddled with the arms in and hands by the face so she could suck on her hands if she wanted to.

We swaddled with arms in and by her side as best we could, but by two weeks she could wiggle her arms out of every swaddle except the Miracle Blanket. In the MB their weight holds the arms down.

For me, the whole point of the swaddle is to contain his arms, so that he can't wake himself up with them. So we put his arms in.

Supposedly, the more they fight the swaddle with their hands up, the more they should be comforted by it. I used the miracle blanket to keep her arms in, she busts out of everything else. DH likes to take her arms out constantly though... sigh...

For the short lived time we did swaddle her arms were down to her side, I was afraid they would fall asleep otherwise...lol idk if that's possible or not but it made me feel better knowing they were down.

We only swaddled for a month, but his arms were by his side when we did. Now his deepest sleep is with his arms wide open. He occasionally startles himself, but he almost always falls back to sleep.

Arms in and hands down. It was the only way to get the boy to sleep.

Hands by her sides as tightly as we could. She would break out if they weren't perfectly by her sides and tight as could be.

We did hands in and at her sides. I don't see the point of swaddling with their hands out unless they are in the process of being weaned.

We have a Love to Dream swaddle so LO can have her arms out without waking herself up.
LO hated having her arms down and even tries to tuck them together when breastfeeding!

Pretty early on we started to swaddle with her hands mostly free so that she could suck on her fingers, which she loved to do the moment she was able to.
