Were you on a swim team as a kid? Did you like it?
Do you think your lo will be on a swim team?
I loved ours! It was so much fun even though we had to get up really early to practice!

I was on my high school's swim team when I was in grade 9. I quit eventually because I was very self-conscious about my body and couldn't handle being in a bathing suit.

I didn't do team but I did lessons forever! Loved lessons. I'm starting LO in mom & me at 6 months lol!

Didn't do swim team. Took lessons when I was super little & as a required part of summer camp. We had a pool, so I had lots of opportunities to practice swimming outside lessons.
If future LOs wanna do it, DH & I will be on board. At a minimum they will be required to learn to be proficient swimmers, after that it's up to them.

I'm probably the worst swimmer in Florida. My mom tried so hard to get me to swim and take me to swim lessons, but I just never took to it. I cried. I figure as long as I can stay afloat, that's what matters.
If LO wants to that would be fine, but if not, I don't really care either way.

Yes, both myself and my two brothers were on swim team. I hated it at times but I also loved it. I didn't enjoy going to swim practice super early in the morning during the summer and swim meets would make me a little nervous, but overall I loved it. I loved hanging out at the pool all the time, bonding with other kids my age and just the antics we would get into.
I think we will definitely have our kids do swim team!

I didn't learn to swim (beyond doggie paddle) until college. I loved surfing, lifeguarding classes, scuba, lap swimming after that so I definitely hope LO picks it up. It would be a great activity to do as a family, even when I'm old.

I was never comfortable in the water, even though I took swim lessons when I was little. I have a big problem with water up the nose, and I can't figure out how to prevent it, and when I do have to get in the water, i feel a sense of panic for a few minutes before calming myself down. I want to put my kids in swim class early on so they don't have to suffer at pool parties like I did when I was younger!

I loved swim team! I looked forward to it every year, and I'm still an avid swimmer. LO is only 7 months old, and I've already scoped out the summer league swim team system in our area. So, yeah, I really hope she wants to do swim team My mom told me that she always liked that it got me and my brother up and active early in the morning in the summer.

We didn't have a swim team, but I was a pool rat growing up and eventually became a lifeguard!

My sister and I were on summer swim teams for like 11 years, plus I swam year round for a couple years. It was great. Good exercise, good experience for socialization/teamwork, and I definitely value feeling very confident in my swimming abilities now, even though I almost never swim anymore. LO will have to protest pretty hard to get out of it.

I swam on a team from age 5 to 18. In high school, I quit all other sports and swam on a competitive year round team, twice daily and on Saturdays. At times I hated it, but I really loved it. I think the individual type sport fit me better than team sports I tried (soccer, softball). I'll definitely teach LO to swim, but won't force swim team on her. I hope she takes up some type of sport though.

I did swim team at our club every summer from 5 to 17 years old. My brother and I basically lived at the club all summer and we were busy all day between swim team, swim lessons, tennis team, and tennis lessons. Swim team was pretty hard core in my town. Actually just last summer my club lost it's first swim meet in something like 25 years. I loved it and I hope my kids will get involved in swim team too! Hubs and I both love the water and I want my kids to be confident in the water from an early age.
