Hubs and I have already talked about taking maternity pics. We're going to do a session with the same photographer who did our wedding. He's going to charge us $200 for unlimited time at up to three locations, and the disc with the editted images.

Yep! Ours is also $200...We're shooting at the beach though, which is what I wanted so we didn't discuss any other locations...It has to take place at 7am (eek!) so we can get good lighting and not have hundreds of beach-goers around!
Oh and we're doing it right at 26 weeks...Originally we said 27 wks but we're going on our baby moon that week and then DH leaves for 3 weeks to work offshore. I only just started showing obviously at 20 weeks so I hope that I'm a good size by 26 weeks- that seems so close!!!

I think that is a really good price. We did ours for a $100 sitting fee and then the cost of the proofs was so expensive! I loved the pictures but had no idea they would be so expensive to buy. When we did wedding/engagements the price of a cd was included in the fee, so I didn't even think to ask if it would be different. I only ended up buying 3 digital images and it was so hard to pick, but that was all we could afford!

I'd like to, but I don't know if we can swing it financially (lots of other things that are eating up our extra money like paying down debt, setting up a nursery, etc.)

I am doing 2 different sets. My dad is a professional photographer and is taking my maternity photos. Our wedding photographer is also a dear friend. I hired her to do a boudoir type maternity session. It's more of an embrace the beautiful changes our bodies undergo to bring a child into the world session. Not something I feel comfortable with my dad shooting.

That's a really good deal! Ours was done by our wedding photographer too but it was still pricey 
they charged us $400 for a 2 hour session, location of our choice and a disc of 150 pics.

Does anyone know if 26 weeks is too early for maternity pics? I posted it earlier, but we'll be on baby moon for week 27, and then DH is gone until week 31 for work. I am scared I'll be humongous and not cute by then!

@jholler25: I think 31 weeks would be a good time to take them, unless your bump is round and noticeable by 26? I don't plan on doing photos til nov.. I'll be around 36 weeks along!

@jholler25: we didn't do an official "shoot" but our friend is a photographer and snapped a few pics of us while we were there for dinner last week! It was unexpected, so I didn't plan an outfit or anything - but got some great pics..... I was 26 weeks and looking at the pics I feel like my bump looks so small! I think baby boy had a growth spurt or something because my bump looks much rounder now --- you may want to hold off a little --- or, can u split the Session into 2??
It depends what you want really - smaller bump or larger bump? I've seen your pics and you look tiny - your bump may not be that pronounced.... I am on my phone but can upload a pic a little later so u can see if u want.

@hellobeeboston: Please upload a pic! I am 21 weeks now, and it is literally only within the past few days that it's obvious that I'm preg and not just chunky. So the fact that I've got 5 weeks before a photo shoot just makes me wonder if I'll be big enough for it to be really dramatic:) Thank you!
ETA: And I was really thinking less about how big my bump would be when I scheduled (I just assumed it'd be plenty big!) and more about how big my ass/legs would be. I've had a battle with the thighs spreading since early on in this pregnancy:)

@jholler25: 26 weeks is probably a bit early. I am doing mine next weekend at 30 weeks and I think mine are probably to early but it's the only time that works for us and our photographer. I'm very visibly pregnant but not huge yet. I don't think you will be huge by 31 weeks just noticably pregnant with a nice round bump.

@jholler25: So, here was the pic from our quick mini session -- i was actually 25 weeks & a few days...
and also attaching a 27 week pic - serious baby growth!
so while I really like the pics - if I were to do a full session I would want the belly to be much larger I think.

I definitely want to do them, but I probably won't pay for them. I'm thinking I'm going to teach my best friend how to use my dSLR and get her to take them. They probably won't be as good as professionals, but at least they'll be free!

we're doing maternity pictures around 35 weeks. I wanted to be big and round!
a friend of mine is doing them because she's trying to get her photography business off the ground - so we're paying $50 and get full rights/photo cd. otherwise we would not be getting them, for financial reasons.
