I get so irritated every time I pay my cable bill. It is so. much. money. I really want to use Hulu and Netflix but DH is a huge baseball fan. He is worried he won't be able to get baseball. Have any of you gotten around this?

We haven't had cable in forever.
All of my shows are on abc.com or I can find them online.
DH isn't a big tv watcher so we make do.

Not sure how to handle the sports thing, but we do not have cable just Netflix and then an antenna which gives us one local channel lol. I love not paying a cable bill though, it's outrageous.

We got rid of cable and use Roku instead. I miss being able to channel surf, but let's be honest... I never get to watch my shows on time anyway!

We just have Netflix--stopped our cable over a year ago. It works great for us. I know a lot of sports games are online now; maybe you could hook up a laptop to the TV for games?

I am a big baseball fan and do not have cable. I root for an out of town team so I would have had to pay for some huge package with cable anyway. I get the MLB.tv service. It lets you watch every game from all teams except for the in-market team in your area. I think it's $125 for the season. You pay for the postseason separately. I don't know if that helps your husband, though, if he roots for the hometown team.

We've been cable free since 2004 and TV free since 2006. Honestly, if we really want to see a game or sporting event, we go out to see it or watch with friends. You stop "needing" to be so plugged in!

You guys are fearless. DH listed cable as one of his top three expenses that would be the last to go if we fell on hard times.

Here's what we do: Listen to games on the radio, go to a couple live games in the summer, and go to a sports bar every now and then. We got rid of cable and we are huge baseball fans (Red Sox & Yankees). But it has actually been fine!

@mrskoala - Red Sox and Yankees in the same house? Is that allowed?! I feel like I would be depriving poor DH, he literally watches the game every. night. Do you think rabbit ears would get me the local game?

PS- it can't be a coincidence that all the ads I see on this thread are for Hulu now.

Football and the occasional movie is the only reason why we have a TV at all. We have never had cable as long as DH and I have been together and haven't really missed it. Fortunately, football is either on local channels or fairly conducive to a sports-bar date! Baseball would be tough, depending on the teams your DH follows. You might want to check on MLB or ESPN's on-line streaming services. You can plug your computer into the TV and watch in real-time.
On the other hand, we would never make it without internet service!
