This is DS's last week in the toddler room, where he's been for over a year. In that time he's had two consistent main teachers and various assistants. I'm guessing some sort of thank you is appropriate? I'm not sure who to gift, and how much or what's appropriate.

@ShootingStar: if you are the type of person that likes to make things, pinterest has great diy ideas. Sometimes i do a reusable cup with a straw filled with candy and a gift card. I might give that too the main teachers and just a the candy cup to the assistants. There are plenty of cute ideas for this online

I probably wouldn't do anything or it would be small like bringing in some breakfast goodies with a hand written note -
@Mrsbells: Oh God, no pinteresty things! I'm 36w and can barely function. I was thinking $10-25 Target gift cards and a Hallmark thank you, lol.
@Mamaof2: We gave them gifts at Christmas and handwritten thank yous for teacher appreciation day. I like the breakfast idea, maybe a box of donuts?

I'm sure they would appreciate the breakfast too but I'm not a big fan of the breakfast goodies because from my friends who are daycare and preschool teachers they really like getting an individual gift they can take home. -
Yup! Just a small gift card and a note is what we do when in a time crunch.

We're in the same boat this week, my LO is moving from the toddler room to the preschool. I've always given gift cards but at Christmas, I think we hurt some of her teachers who didn't receive them from us (I gave to her main teachers but not to any of the floaters since there were just too many).
I think my plan this time is to give smaller gift cards and thank you notes to her three main teachers, then bring in breakfast items for everyone so that I can at least give a small thank you to the teachers in the other rooms who sometimes float and the admin staff.

When DD moved from infant to toddler room, I just gave the head and assistant teacher gifts; Target gifcard and a make-up bag.

When I worked in a daycare parents would often leave a thank you note and a gift card to the coffee shop near by. We often did coffee runs at breaks, a necessity when running after a heard of tiny people all day haha. It was appreciated and split between whoever was working.

@Mrsbells: really, they want more stuff? I have heard to not give more stuff, but consumables or gift cards.
I am a huge fan of bringing in breakfast or lunch.

When DD left her daycare that she had been at from 7 months - 15 months, we bought $20 Starbucks cards for 4 teachers (2 in the infant room, 2 in the toddler room) and DH wrote nice notes for all of them.
My mom was an elementary teacher for over 30 years and I'm sorry to say that handmade gifts always (and some other dinky store-bought gifts) went right into the trash in our house.
Gift cards were always the right way to go.

@PawPrints: When my mom was a kindergarten teacher, we always looked forward to the candy that she got. She liked the giftcards, but we got the candy.
I did a Pinterest lip balm thing for all of the teachers in our daycare (11 total) for Teacher Appreciation. It went over really well. I plan to do something similar again for a holiday, etc. For a final gift, I would do this plus add something else nice in there, giftcard sort of thing.

A gift card tucked in a card signed with a scribble or handprint from LO is my vote.

I gift them all. Depending on my gift budget for the month anywhere from $5-15 each. Once I did $20 but that was a very special teacher. All of them work so hard.

As a teacher, a note is always most special. I keep all of them. Much more sentimental than something "cute." I would just use any thank you card you already have and write a nice note.

@cascademom: That is super cute. One parent gave me a shell necklace that said, You are one Shell of a teacher.
LOL! It totally caught me off guard so I didn't get it. My mind is as pure as the driven snow around my students. My student was cracking up at me when I finally got it like 10 mins later.
Gift cards were always the right way to go.
