My son is 14 weeks old. Since he was born, he mostly naps in my arms during the day. Sometimes I'll put him in the mamaroo and its hit or miss - sometimes he sleeps for a while, sometimes not. In the past few weeks I've been trying occasionally to put him in his crib and it's the same - once he slept for 90 minutes, usually more like 45. In the evenings he falls asleep in my arms around 7:30 and at 9 I nurse him and put him in the bassinet where he sleeps for the night. For the last few days I've been trying to put him in his crib at 7:30 instead of holding him until 9 to get a bit of free time back, but it's not going well - he only lasts about 15 minutes before he wakes up crying. If I settle him back to sleep he just repeats - sleeps for a few minutes then wakes up again. After a few tries I just give up and bring him downstairs and hold him until 9 because I don't want to keep running up and down.

Anybody have suggestions? Just keep trying? Sit in his room and settle him over and over? I can't really let him fuss because my husband is putting our toddler to bed at the same time. I could try him in the bassinet instead of the crib but a) it would be nice to not have to get ready for bed in silence in the dark and b) I'd like to get him in his own room in the near future anyway.
