I was all for a center (b/c I had no been able to find an in-home). Then entertained nanny, but recently finally found an in-home that we like!

We loved our in home daycare but decided to move kiddo into a center once she turned 2. Home daycares can be really different, and ours took great care of the kids as they were infants and gave them plenty of love and care and open play time, but they didn't do any activities with them beyond just letting them run around, so when Baby C got older, we moved her so she could have more exposure to art, music, etc. I have friends who have kept their kids in home daycare up until kindergarten because the daycare was very involved with the kids.

Love our in-home!
The few dislikes we have are 1) lack of outdoor space 2) we need to be flexible. Sometimes T or J need a day off and we just have to take one, too. It wouldn't necessarily work for everyone's job.
E is very much ready for a center, but I'm holding off because T is still so young and I don't want to do two drop offs yet.

We go to a large in home daycare (8-12 kids, 3 adults). I like that LO is in a family environment. She sees day to day family activities like cooking, chores, and the DCP's kids leaving for school. I also like that she's in with mixed age kids. There's a lot of love there.
Unlike PP my LO's daycare is very structured. They have a pretty intense, creative craft every day. They read and count a lot. She's learning Mandarin and Spanish because of the caregivers. I'm more worried that LO2 will get lost in the shuffle when he starts in Nov.
I dislike that there is no director to complain to so if I don't like something I have to address it directly. Lately LO has been brining up Jesus a lot and we're not religious. I've been avoiding having that conversation since DCP is religious.
I was at another in home daycare that had three teenagers/young adults in the house and they always had friends over. It was too many unknown people for me. The husband creeped me out too and I don't get that vibe too much. I also didn't like that we couldn't see anything but the entry way at pick up and drop off so I didn't feel like I knew what was going on. It's all about finding the right place.
