Did it mess with your cycles? Did it help balance your hormones? How much did you take or are you taking?

I took it while breastfeeding for 2-3 months, my daughter was about a year and a half and we were TTC though I hadn't had AF yet. It didn't seem to do anything. I did end up getting pregnant but not for a couple months after I had stopped taking it. I wasn't all that consistent about taking it though.

i've taken it and had good results with it! didn't get pregnant, but did shorten my cycles to a pretty normal length when they had been too long, cleared my skin up, and took away all my usual PMS symptoms (cramps, bloating, breakout). i don't take it now because it can decrease the efficacy of fertility meds. there's lots of research showing it to be beneficial in the short term, but not something you want to take for years on end.

It was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure it delayed O by a few days that month, so I stopped taking it.

I drank vitex tea, and it seemed to regulate my cycles. I was taking other natural remedies at the same time though, so it's tough to say what the vitex would have done alone.

I'm on my second month taking it, the first month it did bring O forward but I messed up my cycle taking some anti-inflammatory pain killers just as I had started gearing up to O. I can't tell you much more than that at the moment, hopefully I will see more positives this cycle.

I took it for one or two cycles and got my bfp with it! I was also taking b vitamin, evening primrose oil etc.

I took it the last few months we were TTC to try to shorten my cycle. It didn't seem to do much for me regarding that because the month we conceived, I ovulated on day 31 (and that's around the time I ovulated the entire 13 months we were TTC).

I took it for a little while after getting off the pill since I wasn't getting a period for a few months and I was hoping it might help get things back on track. I did get a bfp the following month but really I don't know if it did anything

I think I only took it for one cycle when I was ttc. I ttc'd for 8 months, and got my bfp on that last month, when I took vitex!

I took it on and off for a few months, I was hoping to regulate my cycle. I am still irregular but I feel like it helped balance my hormones, I don't get hormonal acne like I did before.

I took it the cycle before I got pregnant with LO #2, but I think that both times what helped me was taking a B-complex to lengthen my luteal phase, not the Vitex.

I didn't vote because I can't decide what on earth happened but I got pregnant the first cycle I took vitex. I also visited the chiropractor because my pelvis was out of alignment so that was the other new thing that cycle. The vitex moved my ovulation date waaay up. Like I think I ovulated on day 10 instead of 15-17. There is a possibility I ovulated day 13 but my thermometer also broke that cycle so I only have a partial chart and I never got a +opk. So basically it was the weirdest cycle I had had yet, it was basically luck that we bd in time. Prior to taking the vitex I was ovulating between days 15 & 17 and then spotting starting at 8dpo. AF would show up like clock work on day 28 no matter which day I ovulated. I took it regularly through maybe 5 or 6 dpo and then was convinced I had screwed everything up and stopped. I took it a few more time since getting a bfp just in case but I have given up on that now. I had read to take 1gram per day but mine came in 400 mg so I was taking 800 mg a day.

@Mrs. J: @Cole: @lulibee: I know this is an old thread, but do you remember if you kept taking it while first pregnant? I’m not pregnant, but am thinking about trying Vitex and have read about potential miscarriage when stopping cold turkey.

@Petitduck: I took Vitex with both of my successfully pregnancy cycles. I slowly weaned off of it each time after getting bfp. I forget the dosage now but I gradually decreased from 2 pills a day to 1 pill a day to a pill every other day to no pills. Did that over about 3 weeks.

@buttermilk: thanks for responding. I was thinking something like that would be my plan along with getting the doctor to check my progesterone level.
Online it suggests taking it and then taking a break when you get your period and then starting up again when your period ends. Is that how you took it? Unless you got pregnant first try!

@PetitDuck: I took Vitex while TTC #2. I didn't take it with #1, but it took me a full year to get pregnant. I have very long and irregular cycles, but I do ovulate. Got pregnant the first cycle trying for #2, so I don't know if it was the Vitex or just luck XD I took it during the first trimester and weaned off at the second though some people quit cold turkey after the first trimester. I too was scared about anecdotal evidence that it could cause a miscarriage because in theory it is suppose to keep progesterone levels high. So far baby has developed normally. I had talked to my doctor and he hadn't heard anything negative about taking it during pregnancy, and said that if it helped keep progesterone levels high it didn't sound like a bad thing. It's frustrating that there is so little info about it though

@Petitduck: I went from two pills a day to one pill a few days after ovulation, and stopped when I got my Bfp

I stopped around 5dpo and then panicked because I read the same thing as you about taking it for a awhile after getting a bfp so I took it like every other day for a week or two. She's 4 now so it worked out one way or the other! Good luck!

@Cole: @LAZB: @thepaperbutterfly: thanks! I’m hoping that at the very least this evens out my cycles a bit more/ balanced them as it suggests it does. I guess I’ll cross the “how to use or if to use when pregnant” bridge when/if I get to it!

@Petitduck: hi! Wow, I haven’t logged in here in a long time.
I believe I weaned off Vitex swith my first pregnancy. I don’t think I prolonged the weaning for very long
