I'll be honest, I've read in a few posts about how women were given push presents for having their baby, and then this week I saw a tabloid cover saying Kate was getting a $1000000 push present (even though the palace hasn't confirmed she's pregnant), but until I joined the HelloBee community, I had NEVER heard of this before.

I wish a million was an actual possible present for me though! I had heard of a push present. I picked out a pair of earrings I really wanted.

I had heard of it because its in a lot of magazines, everytime a celeb gets pregnant or has a baby theres lots of gossip about the push present. I thought it was just something the celebs did but then when I came on wedding bee and hellobee I realized regular couples were doing this too.
I dont like the idea of a push present it just doesnt sit right with me. -

I voted no, but technically, I heard about it on WeddingBee.
My mom kind of got a push present with me - there was a doll she wanted if I was a girl. My dad went and bought it before my mom was out of the hospital. Technically the doll is mine, but I... kind of hate it (it's roughly half my size NOW, and half head. Way too big to play with when I was the right age for it.) So my mom has the doll, and I have the red corduroy hat it came with (that I still sometimes wear.)
I may have my husband go buy all the Madeline books if we have a girl, and Mercer Mayer books if we have a boy. But any "push present" of mine will be for the baby.

I think I've heard of it before as it sounded familiar, but I'm not totally positive. I highly doubt I'd get one as money is tight, but I will take Kate's if she doesn't want it. We should could use it!

Yes I have heard it before, however not until the trashy reality TV show of Real Housewives of OC, when the lady got a Bentley has her push gift.

I still hadn't, so I had to go look it up after reading this thread. Now that I know... I highly doubt that even if Kate WERE pregnant (which I also sort of doubt she is, at least not on the tabloid's timeline) her push present would be $1mil. They have money, and just plain cash isn't something a husband would get for his wife... it sounds more like a reward for having a healthy heir to the throne. Maybe that's how tabloids feel about it but I can't imagine that the actual couple feels that emotionally disconnected.

I've heard of it. But really..the baby will be my "push present" and I wouldn't want DH to spend any money on giving me a gift for giving us a gift, if that makes sense. And...we will need to make every penny count!

I had heard of it before Hellobee. To me, a push present is basically a special gift my husband gave to me for carrying and delivering our child. I think it's sweet.

I've heard of it. I don't remember when I first heard of it but it was several years ago. The whole point is that your husband gives you something nice to say "thank you" for going through labor to have his child. I like the idea of it!

I feel like the baby was present enough. I didn't need anything else.

Nope. I had never heard of it until Hellobee. It seems like a weird idea to me. I don't even know what I would want. These days all I can think of is all of the stuff that we need for the baby. Is the push present really a gift for the mom -- like jewelry or something -- or is it more of a special baby gift?

I've heard of it but it was never called a "push present" it was just a gift for your wife after she went through 9 months of general discomfort and then labor!
My mom got jewelry all three times. With me, it was a sapphire necklace and in her will that necklace will be mine.

Really? I feel like I have always known about it. The first instance is about 10 years ago when my co-worker got diamond earrings for hers. Sure, I guess it is usually something really materialistic but I think it can be something sweet - doesn't have to be a Bentley! It really is a lot of hard work to carry the baby and give birth so I don't see anything wrong if your DH wants to get you something. My DH wanted to do it. I didn't force it on him.

I've heard of it from my friends who had babies recently. I don't think my DH knows about them!

I had heard about it before but I can't remember where exactly I learned of it for the first time. I'm not sure if I'll end up with one or not. My husband isn't the best in terms of gift giving. He always asks me what I want and I have to spell it out exactly for him. On the rare occasion that he does get me something as a surprise he can't keep from ruining the surprise. He just gets too excited. Case in point: he bought my engagement ring two years ago yesterday and intended on waiting until summer to propose but got to excited he did it the next Monday. Or, when he bought my birthday present last year he was trying so hard to keep it a surprise but he mentioned it in a random conversation one night.

You would think I had since so many of my mommy friends are into that sort of thing but you can put me in the 'the baby is the greatest gift' category. Money isn't tight and lord knows he spoils me rotten but getting a material gift for giving birth seems a bit unsavory to me, I'm sorry. For me only, I mean. Yes I go through the discomfort and pain of carrying our child but I don't want a pat on the head and a pretty bauble for it.
Of course if he would like to buy me something nice for no reason shortly after that would be fine

I've heard of "mommy rings" - a few women I know were given rings to wear on their right hand after the birth of a child. I honestly think if I have one, I'll call it my "mommy {jewelry}" over push present - sounds nicer!

I had heard of it before. I think it's the term that is a new one. I like the idea, I think it's sweet but I see it just as a jewellery type thing ( or something that could become a family heirloom). Unfortunately my husband has not heard of the idea so I missed out!
