Does anyone have a specific brand of thermometer they use? Does it matter? I was just ordering my TCOYF and it comes with OPKs, pregnancy tests and a BBT. The brand is Nexcare. I hope that it works well for us, I'm super excited to start charting!

@Tori: it doesn't really matter, as long as it is a basal thermometer. I think mine is Nexcare (it's pink). Some people don't like that it beeps a lot, but I've found where I can cover the back with my thumb to muffle the sound. Just make sure to stick to one brand b/c each thermometer can vary. I love charting!

I had that one and the beeping bothered me enough that I started using a glass thermometer. Everyone is different though! The only downside to glass is that its much harder to read, and the lights need to be on. But it can keep the temp until you shake it down.

@Tori, welcome to the wonderful world of charting!! If the beeping bothers you, I would recommend the CVS brand! It only beeps when it's finished and I love it. But like @Happygal says, you should stick to one.

@Happygal: I had the same Nexcare beeping one and I liked it. Yes, the beeping was a little annoying, but I found the place to muffle it with my thumb too. What I liked was the easy to read, back lit display-- I had a Target brand one that flashed the last temp so quickly I missed it sometimes, which was SO annoying. So the backlight made up for the beeping to me.

Come to think of it, beeping might be a good thing. Sometimes I fall back asleep with the thermometer in my mouth!

I actually like my beeping one! Mine's a 3M and it beeps the whole time it's temping but if it gets misplaced it stops so you know -- the one I had before that beeped when it was finished but sometimes it'd lose the temp and I'd fall back asleep before I could fix it.

I have an Up and Up (taget brand) BBT I love that it saves the last temp so I can temp at 5am, fall back to sleep and then record it when I wake up for real.

I've been using the Nexcare one and it works well. My first battery that it came with only lasted 2 months though. Not sure if that was a fluke or normal, it's just shy of 2 months since I replaced it and its still ok though.
