My 8 week old baby has a small thin blue vein visible on the bridge of her nose. Has any else’s kid ever had that? Does it go away? And was the vein an indication of anything else going on with your kid?

My 7-month old was born with one as well in that same spot! She still has it. I've never asked a doctor about it, but so far it doesn't seem to be an indication of anything else.

My daughter has one on her eyelid. I asked the doctor about it and she said it was just cosmetic and not likely to go away.

@kayla0416: I suppose it is good the doctor hasn’t said anything about it. I am going to ask at mu baby’s next appointment. Of course I googled it in the middle of the night last night...

@kiddosc: oh gees. So if it’s on her eyelid, maybe it’s not too visible. And that’s good the doctor said it is just cosmetic.

@agold: It kind of extends up on to her brow. I definitely notice it, but other people may not as much. I think the skin is so thin in places like eyelids and on the bridge of the nose that it's more common for veins to stand out.

@agold: Yes! Wow I have never heard anyone else mention this. My son has a small blue vein that is visible on the bridge of his nose, as well. I never asked about it but I do notice it. He is 2.5 now and it's the same as the day he was born. Did you find something weird on google (afraid to know)?

My youngest had it on the bridge of his nose too and the doctor said it would eventually go away as he got bigger. I never even noticed it! She was the one to point it out.

A friend's kids both had that when they were babies. You can't really see it now (they're five and three).

My son (14 mo now) has this too. I never asked about it specifically until I noticed a friend’s LO had it too. When I pointed out that they both had it she mentioned she had asked her doctor about it and doctor said it would be less and less visible as she aged.

Yes, both of my kids have this. I've heard it means they are more sensitive to sugar but not even sure what that means! But I'm pretty sure its normal.

@Ajsmommy: who did you hear the sugar sensitivity from?! That is what I saw on google, and that it is something called a “sugar bug”. I also see autism being mentioned and I basically stopped looking at that point. Whatever it is, it doesn’t sound pleasant. I would call the doctor about it today but she already has a regular check up coming up soon.

@wrkbrk: see my response to aj’s mommy above. I’m sure it’s nothing since you all have had no problems with it. I hate google sometimes.

@Ajsmommy: @agold: Sugar bug? Weird! Off to google now! My son loves sugar, haha. I can assure you that he is not autistic, at least not that we or his doctors have ever seen ... google does suck sometimes!

My son has this and it's still visible at 5yo. I think it's just part ofhis anatomy and never thought twice about it.

@agold: I can assure you that my kids are not autistic. I think ** my mom might have told me the sugar thing.

@Ajsmommy: you’re right that it’s called a sugar bug vein. I don’t think there is anything scientific that links it to actually craving sugar. I think it’s more of an old wives tail type thing haha. I read that the veins are common in babies and toddlers and eventually become less visible. I wouldn’t panic about the vein.

Chiming in to add that my DD has this too on the bridge of her nose - since birth and still visible at 14 mos. I hardly notice it anymore.

Thanks, all, for telling me about your kids' nose veins and making me feel better about it! I wasn't too worried... but stupid google.

@Ms. RV: I’m glad I not the only one with a baby that has it. I google pretty much everything and i really found the stuff I saw online about this vein to be odd. I’m feeling better having read all these responses here.
