She took the woman's phone, and posted pictures of her in labor to Facebook through her account! (it was probably linked to her phone through an app.)
The second story/question down. I don't know WHAT I'd do!!!

I'd probably have to not speak with my MIL for a long time if she did that to me. It's such a violation of privacy!

OMG I would be so horrified. Similarly, a friend of mine posted all kinds of private hospital photos of her sister in labor/pushing/immediately after birth and I was thinking I would be so upset by that but her sister never said anything so I guess she was okay with it? Phewwww no thanks

Ugh!!
My mom told her priest I was in labor and they prayed for me, by name, at daily mass. Although I appreciated the prayers, I was not thrilled. I went into labor early, and it's not something I consider public information. I told our parents/siblings, but other than that I wait until we have a baby out before posting on fb!
Oh well. It wasn't as bad as the time my FIL told my dad we named the kid after him before I got a chance to.

WTF is wrong with people???? Why would she think that would be okay or appropriate to post??? That's just crazy-sauce!!

I love Dear Prudence!
This reminds me of another horrible MIL letter where the MIL was friends with a ultrasound tech, and even though the couple was adamantly team green, the MIL convinced her friend (the ultrasound tech) to tell her what they were having. And then she proceeded to tell everyone if it was a boy or girl.
My MIL can be frustrating at times, but it's instances like this that I am thankful for her!

@TemperanceBrennan: I remember that one! I was so sad for the husband and wife. What balls that MIL had!

Wow...who would ever think that was okay. That MIL would be on my shitlist for months...years...and would not be welcome in the delivery room for ANY future children.

Holy crap. I would be livid and so embarrassed... What is wrong with her!
Sidenote: the other questions are also hilarious/gross. The guy whose dad barges into the bathroom and eats eggs while going #2 while he is in the shower? are you kidding? who are these people?!

This is why no one but DH goes in the delivery room. I don't want MIL seeing me in various states of undress or delivery, just as much as I wouldn't want it on Facebook.

@psw27: Hahaha, no kidding! I almost hope people are making up these stories, because... what?!
I would die. I would be soooo mortified. I would hate my MIL SO much!

That is absolutely terrible. I don't know how you could ever trust your mil again.

@swurlygurl: I am confused why Prudence didn't say "lock the door" -- gross!! I hope he is kidding but somehow I don't think so?

MIL posted pictures of SIL in labor and some were beyond my comfort level (they showed quite a bit!) but I guess SIL was cool with it since they're still there years later. I have a few other friends who posted labor pictures, so I could see how MIL might think it was okay. I'd be LIVID though!

Wow. I'd definitely post something to FB explaining what happened, and I would expect my husband to talk to his mother.

OMG. I wouldn't even leave it up to my DH to have a talk with her, I'd lay into her myself! That is SUCH a violation of privacy - and to think all of your coworkers and acquaintances saw those pictures and think they came from you, ugh, I'd be beyond mortified! I thought the response though was really good, especially the bit about posting cute baby pics and referencing the unauthorised use of FB for the previous photos.

@MrsLilybugg: My SIL's MIL did that same thing to her! She took video of the birth (from the vag angle) and posted the video online.

My photographer "accidentally" posted a photo of me in my shapewear and bra. Me naked in labor? Major problem. I feel gross for that poor woman. Gah. How traumatic.

@BabyBoecksMom: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! A video?! I'd leave the planet
