How did you get your exceptionally willful early riser to sleep later I the mornings? LO is about to turn 3 and he loves to wake up at 5am for the day. He is locked into his room at night so he can't get out I the morning, but he's figured out that if he is loud enough we will go in to either relieve each other from the noise or give him a time out for not staying quiet until his clock turns green.

It was brutal this past week when we had my mil visiting. He was at his worst with the morning noise, banging, climbing onto his dresser and jumping off repeatedly, etc. we remove all his toys, lock him in his room and use the okay to wake clock (which he just sees as a funny challenge). I've been consistently talking to him about being quiet in the morning and giving him time outs for being loud but he doesn't care. Ignoring him is not an option since he wakes the baby and we tried that for months before #2 arrived and it never worked.

I feel like a prisoner in my home because we can't go anywhere since he wakes the entire house/hotel/etc. he loves going to our beach house but we literally have to put him in the car and drive around for hours in the morning so everyone else can sleep.

Any strategies that worked for you if you have a willful child? I am going insane..
