Ha so true! Besides the OPKs (digital and cheapy), I've bought TCOYF for $15, plus tons of pills (prenatal, B6, Mucinex) and about $40 worth of natural progesterone cream so far. I'd pay a lot more than that if it guaranteed success, and who knows, I may end up paying someone (a doctor) way more than that some day if we aren't successful on our own. Sheesh

DH and I both went to and acupuncturist and were given herbs to take. It cost us about $40 each per week for the herbs and the Dr told us if we didn't get pregnant within 3 months there was nothing else he could do. Well we found out we were pregnant month 3! I was charting and using opk though so it could've been coincidence.

So far, I've only spent $15 on TCOYF, $25 on BBT thermometers (bought 2 since I didn't like the first one), and about $10 on dollar store pregnancy tests. But we just started, so...
However, when I was buying the tests in the dollar store yesterday, another woman walked in front of me to check out, saw the stack of tests in my hands and let me go first

Oh, didn't count the vitamins... those will add up, since I'm fairly certain I'm taking a pretty expensive version (Rainbow Light Petite).

@mrs. bird: Score! I paid very much full price in Whole Foods for the first bottle, now I'm getting them on Amazon through their subscribe and save. The ads on getting have changed a lot since I ordered those and TCOYF!

Ummmm yeah. We spent quite a bit (obviously not even close to the amount of someone who does IVF though). Books (TCOYF, Making Babies), vitamins (D, B6, FertileCM), over the counter progesterone cream, prometrium (lots of bottles…that was expensive since it’s prescription), progesterone in oil shots (also pretty expensive), acupuncture, doctor copays. And that’s not to mention the OPKs and pregnancy tests. I’d buy cheapies but then I’d pay overnight shipping which usually ended up costing us more than the actual tests! I don’t even want to add it all up! LO isn’t even here yet though and we both already know that it was worth every cent.

@Rachel: oh yes. I spent $30/mo on prenatals that I started while TTC!

@mrs. bird: I don't think it matters. I took the pills, just make sure the active ingredient is guaifenesin, any others will dry you up. I took it 5 days before O and 1 day after. I noticed a huge difference in cm once I started taking it. Good luck

We spent the amount equal to a small car doing IVF. But all worth it.

This is LAUGHABLE! I spent just as just making sure i'd get pregnant as I have while pregnant. It's so sad....

I get sad thinking about how all of these costs (preseed, vitamins, fertility monitor, pee sticks, doc visits) are just for the *CHANCE* to be pregnant...not that I want to buy a guarantee. But it's just so hard to deal with when friends keep getting pregnant on their first try and never have any of these associated costs.
