Has anyone done one of these classes? What did you think?
I have searched my local mom groups and it seems the only posts about the classes are to advertise...not much other feedback.

I looked it up after someone mentioned it to me and it seemed outrageously expensive for what it was- the cost broke out to be $20+ per session. To go outside for one hour?? I can do a nature walk with my child on my own... maybe for older children it would have more value, but I feel like by then I'd be looking for half day camps or programs.

I'm really curious about it, too but I don't know if the cost is worth it. It seems so expensive for what you get...

@Anya: whoa! That is crazy town. That is really expensive.

I've done it cooperatively with other moms. The mom who got us started had paid up for a class and agreed it was outrageously expensive and easy to DIY. Each of us just took a turn leading; we prepped a few activities, including a song/story and craft, and brought a snack. We met at a park in Brooklyn with a "natural play" area. If you google tinkergarten you'll get tons of ideas. Most of the crafts involve bringing something from home (like clay or an empty jar or contactvoaper) and a little walk to collect things to fill/stick. We made sun catchers with flowers, nature sensory jars, clay hedgehogs with stick spines....

We do it and the kids love it BUT we got a major discount for it ($80 for 2 kids). It is fun but like it's just the kids digging in the dirt half the time which they do at home for free. Check for free trial classes and community events and discount codes. Not sure if it will work for everyone but try summer17. The good thing is that the second child is 50% off so combined cost can be lower than other activities plus they are over an hour, when many activities are just half hour.

Thanks ladies! I decided to leave my job and will be home with the kiddos. I was thinking of hosting a play group at our house a few days a week (we are moving to the woods and have a couple acres...) but stumbled upon this class. It sounds cool, but like you said @PinkElephant: it seems like it would be less stressful to just do it on my own I don't really want to ask my friends to pay and arm and a leg to hang out with me haha!

Hrm, that's an interesting premise, I've never actually researched it before, but I can kind of understand it from a money making perspective.

@Mrs. Lion: I have high aspirations but low followthrough rate when I'm planning activities like this just for my own kids....having 3 under 5 will do that to you, I guess! Doing it with friends "forced" me to follow through and make it happen...and I only had to do it once to get 5 or 6 other sessions in return. definitely worth it!
