As much as it hurts, get up and move. Walk around. The more you move, the easier it will be! (But don't overdo it!) I made laps around the hospital floor every day I was there and I definitely think it helped.
Use an abdominal binder. It makes it feel less like your insides are falling out when you stand up!
Hugs!! and congrats on your baby!

Congrats! I second the walking around - it helps a lot with recovery. In the hospital I got up and walked a couple times a day and when I was at home I just did as much as I could without pushing it. I had a friend who refused to walk around and she had a way worse early recovery and a much longer hospital stay. I had staples so everything was a lot easier once they were out. One thing I found surprising was a lot of motions that I thought would hurt didn't (like walking the dog/dog pulling on leash) and lots that I thought wouldn't did (like raising my arms over my head) - so take it pretty easy until you figure this stuff out. I found mine healed to a point where I could tell I had had surgery but wasn't really in any significant pain much more quickly than I expected.

Yes to what others have said - get up and move ASAP. Walk, even if its very slowly.
Belly binder
Take the pain meds; there is no reason to tax your body and put additional stress on it by "toughing it out". They will give you meds that are fine for breastfeeding

I agree with the other ladies - move around but don't push it and take your pain meds!

Get up and get moving. I was up walking the afternoon of my surgery (DD was born at 5 am) and I seriously had the easiest recovery. No pain at all. Felt normal by day three.
Don't push it though - even if you feel okay, take it easy. Limit stairs to 1-2x/day, no housework, have visitors help you with cooking/cleaning/laundry. Your job is baby and recovery, nothing else
Oh, and I used my Bella band over my pants to help everything feel more secure.
Good luck!

Walk around, rollll out of bed (getting out of bed and twisting motions were the hardest for me). But believe the PPs...you have to get up and move around!

Don't overdo it. I did and I felt paaaaaaaaaaaain after.
Also, take your pain meds. Set a timer so you don't forget.

The first few days are the hardest, stay on top of those meds and don't try to do too much. Let dh bring your lo to you for feedings and take her from you when you are done. And yes, try to get up and walk a bit - just take it slow. It takes time! I didn't find the belly bandit helpful at all, but after the first few days I didn't think it was necessary either.
Congrats!!!!!

Walk and move as much as possible. I took motrin around the clock for 3 days.

Try to avoid stairs as much as you can. Definitely walk. No laundry!! I wish I had the arms reach co sleeper because it was hard getting out if bed to get the baby to nurse in the middle of the night

Miralax! Seriously. I was so constipated after my section. I kept up with the colace, but it was the miralax that finally did the trick.

My biggest tip is to use the bed elevation feature in the hospital. They thought I was weird, but it was SO hard for me to put my feet on the floor and stand for the first couple days. It was so much easier to put the bed really high and swing my legs down to where I was pretty much standing.
Definitely take the meds and walk around. Oh, and drink hot tea, it helps with the trapped gas.

@mrsh. I'm on day 12 from my c section and now feeling like everything is easier. Walking really does help and an abdominal binder.

@mrsh: the belly binder I was given at the hospital worked wonders for me. I could fill it up with ice and it helped with the soreness. Get up and walk around (I know it hurts!) as much as you can. And I don't know about you but my c-section was very unexpected. I was quite sad for a few days over it but I tried very hard to focus on other things. It gets better!
