So I am 40+2 today and I had my membranes swept two days ago. I just lost my mucous plug/bloody show and I'm wondering if this is occurring naturally or just from the procedure. Thoughts?

It could be either I'm not sure how you would go about finding out if it was from the sweep or spontaneous but I would guess it was the sweep since you only had it within 48hrs.

Could be either! I lost mine in the morning, had an appt at 3 pm, and my water broke at 5!

@miramira: @sorrycharlie: that's what I thought everyone would say...boo guess I'll just have to live in uncertainty for a little longer.

Could be either but if it makes you feel any better, when I lost it and had my bloody show, baby was born 10 hours later!!!

@MrsHansen82: when I lost mine, I still never went into labor and had to be induced. Not to be a downer but wanted to give another perspective. Hope this is the big sign for you and baby is on it's way!!!!

@Mrs. Confetti: Was yours tinged with blood at all? Our childbirth educator said that makes things more exciting haha

If it was just your mucus plug, it doesn't mean much, but if it was blood-tinged, typically labor starts within 24hrs. I suspect you'll be seeing that baby really soon!

You never know... It happens so quickly for some women & takes forever for others, like me. I lost my mucous plug (blood-tinged) something like 4-5 days before giving birth but having contractions all the while. My dang water just would not break! I sincerely hope this is not the case for you!!

Thinking of you and hoping you will be in labor soon! Mucous plug can be tricky but its never a bad sign!
