My 27-month-old daughter either doesn't nap at all or naps for 3 hours unless I wake her, which makes for a very late bedtime. How long does your toddler nap? Do you wake them?

She naps up to 3 hours. Sometimes 1 1/2. Just depends on the day. It's rare that we wake her but we don't let her sleep past 4. Maybe once every 14 days or so we wake her.
How long is nighttime sleep? Do you have control over waketime or naptime?

2.5yo and he always naps a minimum of 2 hours. Pretty often 2.5hrs and very occasionally 3hrs. I'd say maybe once or twice a month I have to wake him so that bedtime isn't totally derailed.
ETA: he's always in his crib for 3 hours, I should add. So if he wakes at the 2 hour mark I won't get him till 3 hours has passed.

My daughter is 25 mo and naps for 1.5-2 hrs. I wake her almost everyday promptly at 3 or she WILL NOT go to bed at night.

@youboots: We don't let her sleep past 3:00 for naps. Her night sleep is usually about 10-12 hours.

DS is 30 months. Lately, he has been having some issues napping at school because it's an earlier time than he naps at home, they are in an open room with all his friends, and his language is really exploding. So he's been skipping naps at school once or twice a week the last month or so. When he naps well, he does the full 2 hour nap period.
At home, in the quiet and in his blacked out room, he sleeps soundly for 2.5-3 hours.

DD is 28 months, she naps 2-3 hours. Normally 2.5 on the dot though. She goes down at 1 and we make sure she is up by 4.

B is 3 and he usually naps about 90 minutes, sometimes less, sometimes more. We always wake him up at 3 if he's not already up.

Dang everyone! My LO tries to skip about a nap a week and when she does nap it's 1-2 hrs. 3 hrs would be amazing!

28 months -- at school during the week naps around 90 minutes -- some days more, some days less. At home, usually 2-3 hours. Sleeps 10.5-11 hours at night typically. I never wake him up! He has higher sleep needs than his older brother ever did (by this age, his older brother was a sometimes napper).

Around 3, my oldest would nap for 3-4 hours and then take forever to go to sleep. We started having to wake him after 1.5-2 hours, then he would go to bed at his usual time. My second, sadly, stopped napping around the time he turned 2.

I typically wake at 3pm because I can't handle late bedtimes while pregnant! She usually only sleeps that late because she's upset and trying unsuccessfully to skip her nap.
My daughter is 20 months and will sleep about 1-1.5 hours. A long nap for her is 2 hours. But she also does okay with no nap and an early bedtime!

About 2ish hours, usually. Her home daycare provider is much less strict on set nap times so she doesn't always go down at the same time every day. When she's home on the weekends, she goes in her crib around 12:50/1 and I never let her sleep past 3/3:15. Bedtime is at 7:30. She just turned 2.

We are usually lucky if LO has a 1.5hr nap, maaaybe 2hrs. She's 22mos. I don't try for a regular nap time, but follow her cues. We probably could/should try harder to have more defined nap & bedtimes, but overall she gets about 12hrs total sleep on average.

My 27 and 15 month olds nap from 12:30-3:00. If I don't wake the older one she'd sleep until 3:30-4:00. Littlest is in bed at 7:30, middle is in bed at 8:30.

At that age, I woke her at 2 hours every day. No way was I dealing with later bedtimes.

25 months old. She'll nap 45 minutes to up to 3 hours. Some days she'll skip altogether if there's too much fun happening around her (like at Grandma's house).

2.5 years old, usually a 2.5 hour nap (1 PM to 3:30 PM). We wake him up by 4 PM and he's in his crib for bedtime by 7:30 PM.

2.5 years old and his nap length ranges from 1.5-2.5 hours (about 1-2:30/3:30pm). We have started waking him up at the 2.5 hour mark to preserve his overnight sleep (usually about 11-11.5 hours, which we cherish).

@CatchAFallingStar: DS is almost 17 months and normally naps for 2-2.5 hours both at daycare and on weekend days. Overnight sleep is more like 10-11 hours.

At school she naps about a hour, usually 12:30-1:30 or something like that (nap is from 12:30-2-ish).
At home she naps 1-2:30.

22 months and generally 2-2.5 hours. Occasionally she will have a bad nap day and only sleep and hour. Then I know she will go to bed at 7pm instead of 8pm. She will then sleep in till her normal 7-7:30am

My three year old naps usually from 2-330pm. We wake him at 4 if he's not up. He's been sleeping about 830-730.
I'm trying to get him to nap earlier but it ends up being when dd needs her second nap so I just put them both down at the same time so I'm not spending my whole day with one kid napping.

My 2.5 year old wakes up crying at the one-hour mark on the dot and I can't get her to go back to sleep. Blah.

21 month old and I'm lucky if we get a nap!! I would say he averages about an hour. It can be anywhere from no nap-2 hours but 2 hours is extremely rare.
