DS is almost 2 and I know that hitting comes with the territory. Or at least, it's not out of the ordinary and we are working on it. However, the thing I find strange is that recently when DS does hit either DH or myself and we tell him no, he immediately hits himself, like smacks his own hand a few times while we tell him not to hit himself. Does anyone else have a LO that does this?

Yes! I'll tell my daughter not to hit Mama, and then she will keep doing it and laugh! She thinks it's funny when I say not to do something apparently.

He doesn't laugh though. It's almost as defiance. Like you tell me not to hit but I can hit myself. It just strikes me as sort of, odd.

My nephew never hit others and was never spanked but would hit himself when he was upset.. like slap his head, face :(. It was so sad! It was like he wanted to lash out and hit but knew he was not allowed to so he hit himself. He grew out of it quickly as he got better at communicating.
