Our LO is 21 months. Sleeping on a full sized floor bed for 5 months. LO cries when we leave the room at nap and bedtime (we are working on this) and has been falling asleep in front of the door. But she sleeps better when she stays in bed ( of course!) Advice?

Our LO did the exact same thing. We used our video monitor with two way communication and every time she sat up and started to leave her bed we'd talk through the monitor and tell her to lay down. Three nights and it was cured

when we first switched to a toddler bed (no rail), LO kept getting out and crying at the door. one night i sat in the room and kept putting him back in the bed every time he came out. i didn't say anything to him or engage with him, just calmly put him back in the bed. this happened at least 20-30 times. it was tiring, but after that he generally got the picture (yes he did come out a few times, but mostly stays in bed).

can you get something special for bedtime like the constellation turtle?

We just let him fall asleep at the door and then we wait 20 minutes until he was good and asleep and then move him to his bed. He did this for 2ish months. Just this week he started staying in his bed to fall asleep.

We tried a floor bed a few nights while E was sick, and she just got up and opened the door and walked into the hallway, LOL . We won't be doing a floor bed again until she's older.

Not in a floor bed but I do what @prettylizy: does. I can see her getting out of bed and would yell upstairs "Get back in bed"
Sometimes she would cry but she stayed in bed!

@ mrsbee the ladybug arrived yesterday! We will introduce tonight. Any tips? The shell is harder than I expected - do kiddos sleep with it or better to keep on a shelf?
While we have a video monitor I don't think we can talk to LO that way. But we live in a small space so I imagine talking thru the door will work.
At 21 months will LO - who is very verbal- understand?
@mrslion we have brought LO back to bed but only if we can get into the room. Sometimes the doorway is blocked

@Munchkin: honestly we just (very gently) push him a few inches along with the door, just enough to squeeze in (I had to start sending DH because I don't fit with the big baby belly haha) As long as he is pretty solidly asleep when we go in it doesn't wake him at all.
