I *just* found out that my MIL has been using my personal email address to sign up for things (ie. one-time wine making courses, etc.). She can't use her own personal email because these things that she signs up for are one-time deals in which they track email addresses. So she uses mine!
I found out about it because I received a bunch of reminder emails about this appointment and that event, etc. It's my email address but she typed in her own name.

LOL. I can laugh because it's not my MIL. If it was mine you betcha I'd want to ring her neck. Your email address and who knows what other info they can find has probably been sold to numerous other companies. Doesn't she know to have her *own* back up, spam worthy emails!

I just don't understand why she didn't create a "spam" email account. I have 4 email accounts, one specifically devoted to those deals/newsletter type things. Oh MILs...sigh...

For that she gets her own e-mail made by you. I would make one for her, write the address and password in a card and clearly say to her face to never, never, ever use your e-mail again.
Something cutesy and grandmotherly, so it seems like a nice gesture- kill her with kindness, but a cold, hard stare right in her eyes saying NEVER to use yours again.

I would be so pissed. I'd start that conversation by telling her that "someone" has been sending spam e-mail about classes/etc. and that you had to cancel all of them! Can she *believe* how horrible some people are?
Ok, maybe that way is a little passive aggressive, but I'd probably say, in no uncertain terms, that she absolutely is never to use the email address again. I'd also change your password, just in case.

Hahaha this is just so absurd! Who even thinks about doing that?! Like, "hmmmm...I want to sign up for this but can't use my own email if I want the deal. I know! I'll just use Rubies'!" WTH?!

Is it horrible that my first thought was to write emails on her behalf that she can't make any of the appointments/events she signed up for because she has 'explosive diarrhea'?

@sorrycharlie: once my son was born I started asking my husband how he thinks I can avoid being a crazy MIL someday. So far he has no suggestions
