My mom got us a 17foot trampoline for my soon to be 4 year olds birthday. Not only do I really not really have the space for it in my back yard (will be tight), I also have a 10 month old and I just think my kids are too young. She has offered to return it. What would you do?

Return it. I’m scared to death of those things. I knew a guy in HS who was jumping on one with his brother and broken his neck. He’s been paralyzed ever since.

I personally would return it. Recent guidance is that the repetitive jumping is just not safe for tikes' bones. I can't remember the age, I feel like it is anything younger than 6. The AAP firmly discourages them for a variety of safety reasons.
ETA: I also know a guy who is paralyzed from a trampoline.

I'd also return it. Your kids are far too young to appreciate them anyway. If she wants to provide an outdoor toy, get a climber/slide combo or a sandpit.

I’d return it. My nephew broken his leg on one last year, and I know injuries are super common. They just don’t seem safe to me.

Return it. DD broke her leg at 2. It was not from a trampoline but that is a common cause for toddler fractures

They make me too nervous anyway, but also consider that all your LO’s friends would want to be jumping on it too- an additional risk
I would rather some other outdoor toy.

Return. My parents got my kids a trampoline too and I wish we didn’t have it. I’m dreading managing their use of it.

Return it. I would never want one - even if I didn't consider it dangerous to my own kids, I'd about the liability when everyone else wanted to jump on it. I believe it also does pretty crazy things to your homeowner's insurance policy (spike in the rate); you might want to check that if you decide to keep it.
Can she get your 4 yo a pass to an inflatables place or indoor play place, instead?

@oskarsmommy: I know its hard to ask someone to return it but that's such a huge thing to buy without clearing it with you first. no offense to anyone who has it in their backyard but they are kind of an eyesore after a while and like others have said they aren't the safest thing to play on

Return. Two friends got one and literally in the first week each of them had a daughter with a broken arm!
I have a couple other friends who have the. And it's been fine, but for me the risk doesn't seem worth it. -
Return. My 4 yr old wanted a trampoline for Christmas so bad, but for all the reasons listed above, we wouldn’t buy one. We bought a small bounce house instead to satisfy her want to jump and it’s been great. Takes about 3 mins to set up, less space, it’s small and enclosed and isn’t in our yard 24/7.

Trampolines scare me so much. I know people like them, but I have seen so many horrible things happen on them.

Return. Massive liability. Just be prepared with one or two reasons why (liability, insurance rate increase, anecdotal stories of broken bones etc). Maybe offer instead that she could purchase passes to a trampoline park or another indoor activity to take its place.
