We switched cold turkey from breastmilk to milk two days after he turned one. Our pedi recommended to just switch him over and if he reacted poorly, to go back and do it more gradually then. He had no issues switching though. If we're out, I either order milk, or just let him drink water at a meal. Since he's getting his nutrition from food, I don't worry if he doesn't drink a certain number of ounces of milk every day.

if you need milk while you're out, I know they sell those Horizon Organic milk boxes that I'm pretty sure don't need refrigeration (until opened) but I've never tried them myself!

We did a mix of formula and milk past a year only because LO didn't like milk as it seemed to do a number on his stomach and also due to the fact we had formula leftover.

Like Sorrycharlie, the milk boxes are great for travel, but I usually take a PACKIT lunch bag (great if he's still using a bottle) or keep the milk cold in a FOOGOS thermos.

1. Did anyone do formula longer than the one year? Yes, we gave her formula from 11-14 months because we had a couple cans left and I wanted to use it up.

2. What did you do if you were out and about once you started feeding milk? If you're at a restaurant, I guess you can order milk.... but if you're out shopping... how do you bring it with you? (formula is very convenient that way).
