I pump at work and leave my milk in the fridge. My commute from work to home is about 30 minutes. Do I need to store my bottles with an ice pack or can I just toss them in a regular bag until I get home since its a short travel time?

The bag should be fine. I use ice packs since it is so hot out.

@smurfette: thanks! God point about being hot out. I have ice packs so I'll start using them too. I haven't since commute is short but maybe this will keep milk even fresher. I noticed my milk goes bad in 3 days.

My commute is about the same time and I use an ice pack. Never know what could happen that might extend your commute unexpectedly.

My commute is a little longer than that, 45-50 minutes door to door, and I use an ice pack just in case my train gets stuck somewhere. I also find that the contoured ice pack that comes with the Medela pump is handy for keeping the bottles upright, so I'm less worried about accidental spillage.

There's a bag called Pack It with built ice packs. I used one to transport breast milk.

I always use an ice pack. I never know what will happen and I hate having to dump milk..

I never used an ice pack, but I did use a cooler bag to transport the milk. The milk itself was cold enough from coming out of the fridge. So as long as I kept it insulated, it kept cool.

My commute is the same, but I use an ice pack just to be on the safe side because sometimes traffic can be bad.
