Why would they plan a wedding that they want everyone to come to knowing that your baby is due three weeks before? What if the baby is late? That sounds like way, way too much hassle. If they really wanted everyone there, it seems like they should have consulted you.

FWIW, my family is having an anniversary party for my parents 4 weeks after my baby is due, 4 hours away, and I have not even considered going, nor has anyone suggested that I even try. It's my first, so I'm guessing I'll be more overwhelmed with the newborn part than you will be, but you will also have other kids to take care of! I wouldn't do it.

Yeah, no way. Like PP's have said, what if LO's late?? I can't imagine I would want to go dress up and deal with a newborn (+ your other LOs!) at a family function that soon after giving birth.. And 10 hours away?! Fuhgeddaboudit!

I would skip it. You'll be recovering, and who knows what the new lo will be like, even if your older ones are more predictable... Way too much stress imo.

If you really want to go, I'd say fly. I wouldn't have even been comfortable driving for ten hours at that point...but then again I had a slow recovery.

@andrea86: Oh heck no. If that's the case, then definitely don't worry yourself about it. They shouldn't be pressing you to come after you specified a weekend that *would* work and then they went with a weekend that was better for someone who isn't dealing with a newborn Not cool!!!

To be honest, your parents asked for it to be moved up knowing it would be bad for you on top of planning a family trip that you can't attend, sounds like your needs were not high on their priority list.

Of course they want you there, and you want to go too, but it doesn't seem like it is going to work. Traveling that far with a 3 week old, right after giving birth, not to mention your other kids - it's just too much!

Personally, it would make me really sad if my brother planned his wedding right after my due date, if they already knew when the baby was due, but maybe they just don't understand how hard this will be for you. Have you leveled with him? I know if it were my brother, he would rather change his wedding date for me to be there once he understood it would be impossible for me to go otherwise.

i would skip it also. something similar happened to my friend--her brother in law planned his wedding for 3 weeks after her c-section date for twins. there was no way she could go. they decided her husband should go even though her mom told her it was a bad idea, and it did indeed turn out to be a bad idea. it was a very, very rough weekend for my friend. i'm sure if they had to do it again, both of them would stay home and not regret a damn thing.

There's no way I would go. I would send a nice gift, but I imagine a trip like that would be difficult 1-3 weeks pp with a newborn. I'm sorry the date was changed, it seems kind of rude to change it for a family trip, knowing that other family members weren't invited/not able to go.

@andrea86: I don't know what else you can do. If the baby is a week or two late, that really wouldn't be feasible.
