Does your lo get dessert every night? My lo asks for a treat every night after dinner. We let her if she eats her meal. We only put in front of her what we know she can eat. A treat is typically one cookie, a small piece of chocolate or a yogurt tube.

Nope. Maybe once everything other week we do ice cream or a Popsicle. If we have made cookies recently then we might do one of those.

Nope - I've noticed that sugar close to bedtime = disaster. We don't have dessert often. She might get fruit with her dinner, which is treat enough for her!

He gets a "special treat" if he finishes most of his dinner...but it's a probiotic! It's orange flavored and shaped like a bear, though...
If he finishes his dinner he'll get yogurt or extra fruit.

Yup, it's typically a small icee or some fruits. Dinner is at 6 and she sleeps at 8:30 so I'm ok with her getting a "treat/snack" after dinner now. We very rarely have sweets in the house. When I do she'll ask for it and if she's been really good and finished all her dinner I'll let her have a mini cookie or half a snack size Hershey bar.

Nope. We rarely eat dessert after dinner (we're just too dang full!), but he had ice cream last night. He asked for it, but ate very well for dinner so we approved his request.

Nope - we only do treats for special occasions (last night was Hubs' birthday, so Xander got some Vegan Cheesecake). We don't want to get into the habit of wanting or expecting treats every day.

We don't usually have treats in the house, but if she's been good all day and eats dinner, sometimes we will all share a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie after dinner. That's about as close to dessert as she gets.

He often gets fruit as a dessert. Other than that, nope. Only for special occasions.

No. He almost never eats his dinner so there is no treat offered.

Sugar before bedtime is a disaster at our house, I am more likely to give them a homemade cookie or ice cream after lunch or in the afternoon. If they eat a great dinner and are still hungry I will give them applesauce or graham crackers.

Not really but we do if he asks. So far he is very different from my husband and me as far as his sweet tooth. When we have birthday cake he gets excited but then is done after a couple of bites. If only I had the self control! So if he asks for a cookie, we never say no but cookies we buy for him are graham crackers or something not too junky.

Nope, we don't eat dessert after dinner. The only time we will is if we go out to eat!

A few times a week. Not every night, but especially when he's eating well. We try to mention it after he's finished dinner. Usually yogurt, animal crackers, cookie or a dessert we might have around (Rice Krispie treat, Etc)

we only do dessert on "special occasion" nights (which is a pretty lose term- sometimes a special occasion is we feel like getting ice cream, or its Friday night and I'm tired, or grampa is visiting- whatever). She gets it regardless of how much dinner she eats (a small scoop of ice cream, a small piece of cake, whatever we are having)- but she cant' have it until we are all ready to have it, and usually if my kid waits long enough she will at least eat some of her dinner.
I don't have strong feelings about it (other than that when she is at my mother's house she eats ice cream 30 times a day and that is too much!), but my husband felt strongly that "treat" foods shouldn't be connected to how much of something else she eats because it sets up good/bad dichotomies about food. I just don't want it to happen every night- once or twice a week on average is fine.

Nope. She doesn't eat her dinner most nights so nothing else to eat. If she happens to eat a good dinner, she can have something small like a butter cookie, gummies, etc.

A few times a week if she eats all/most of her dinner. I buy those Dole frozen chocolate covered banana slices and usually give her one of those as a treat...she's obsessed with them.

This is kind of a point of contention in our house. Hubs will offer D a treat, but then say he needs to eat more of XYZ. I don't like forcing D to eat anything, and I really don't like rewarding forcing him to eat with a treat.
In my house growing up, we were never forced to finish anything. We were asked to try new things, but there was never any pressure to clean our plates or anything like that. Hubs grew up being forced to clean his plate, and also kind of being forced to overeat. It's a dynamic in their home that bothers me to this day. Her children are over 35 and my MIL STILL forces food on them! This is not something I want our kids to grow up with, so it's a conversation that Hubs and I frequently have.
The way I see it, if D eats most of his dinner, and he requests a snack, he can have one. A snack could be fruit, a piece of chocolate (like 1 Hershey's kiss), or a cookie. Sometime like that. I assume if he doesn't eat a lot of his dinner, then he's not hungry, and doesn't need a snack.

Only if he eats most of his dinner which has been rare lately. He has been really sick this week with a sore throat and a nasty cough and didn't eat any of his dinner last night, but we gave him a popsicle to help his throat.
