I don't have experience with hydrospalinx, but I did have two consecutive losses very similar to yours (a chemical pregnancy followed by a blighted ovum at 11 weeks.) I ended up getting pregnant with my son the very next month. I didn't end up doing any testing because the losses were so different from each other. It just seemed like a string of bad luck. My advice is to take care of yourself (take a break if needed) and don't lose hope. I'm very sorry for your losses.

I'm sorry for your losses I had two losses, one later in the first tri and one at 5 weeks. We did tests but didn't find underlying issues and learned that one of the losses was a random event. I now have a 5 month old. It really sucks but I think the above comments are right that often it is a numbers game and the best odds come from just continuing to try once you are ready. My RE told me that the most common diagnosis for repeat loss is unexplained.

I'm so sorry. I had 3 losses, 1 before my first baby, then 2 more before my 2nd baby. No testing done b/c my 3rd loss was a chemical and they basically didn't think I was far enough along for it to "count". I actually switched OBs when I found out I was pregnant again after that and she mentioned that she would have run tests on me if I had been under her care then (luckily, that pregnancy was fine and it was my final one).

I skipped a month after both later m/c's because I needed intervention for both (misoprostol for my first, D&C for my 2nd). My chemical happened naturally so we tried again right after, although I did not get pregnant that cycle so it didn't matter.

Like others above, I agree that at 2 m/c's, it is impossible to know if it is just bad luck or something else. Definitely I'd try to get further testing if you have a 3rd. If you can get pregnant at all, that is a good thing, and the fact that you had a previously health birth is also great. I always tried to keep those facts in mind while dealing with the losses when we were trying for #2. I hope you get lucky like I did and the 3rd one is the charm. Hugs.

I had 4 consecutive losses in just over a year (after a successful first pregnancy that is now my 3-year-old). One was a blighted ovum (which is always a chromosome problem) and the last was a rare trisomy. If the last was not a chromosomal problem I would have done extensive testing. As it was, I only tested things that might impact my overall health: thyroid and a1c.

Given that I’d had one successful pregnancy the odds that it was a chromosomal issue (like a balanced translocation) in me/my partner was astronomically low.

I did start taking a separate methylfolate supplement in addition to my prenatal. Multiple studies have found unexpected decreases in the incidence of trisomy-21 and -18 when folate/folic acid supplementation was introduced with the aim of reducing open neural tube defects.
