LO is 6 1/2 months old and has had recurrent thrush in his mouth that I just can't get rid of. He hasn't had it in about 2 months but it's back again!!! GRRR. I have been using Nystatin suspension 4x/day when he has it but it must not be working properly. How can I get rid of this for good?
Any other suggestions?
I've heard of gentian violet and grapefruit seed extract.

Hmm. We have had reoccurring thrush. I ended up starting to wash my nipples between each feed and use monistat cream on my nipples. Cleared it up.
Eta: I hope you can figure it out. Thrush is the bane of my existence. It completely ruined my breastfeeding experience.

@.twist.: thanks for your reply! Thrush has made me pretty miserable, the duct pain has been crazy. I'm surprised I've kept breastfeeding this long, actually. The weird thing is I don't have any pain this time but DS's mouth is full of white 
I just can't believe I can't get rid of it for good. I'm not a "yeasty" person - I've never had a yeast infection etc.
Last time I asked my doctor about it, she said it wasn't a big deal and that when DS spaces his feeds out more it will go away. He feeds every 4 hours but it's driving me crazy!!!

ETA - I boil his soothers everyday and pump parts every time I pump (which is infrequently) just to make sure it's not lingering around on them...

Ugh. Thrush is terrible. Have you tried using a vinegar and water solution on nipples after feeding?

I second the vinegar and water solution. I hate thrush. Poor thing has had it almost her whole life. Grrr! I'm holding onto a bottle of GV but haven't used it. Do you have a prescription for you?
I read that athlete's foot cream works. The active ingredient is clotrimazole. I used it out of desperation when I went back to work. I only put it on when I knew I wouldn't be nursing for awhile. Didn't want her to ingest it. Cleared it up in 3 days on me. Kept using nystatin on her.

Get your lo a script for Daktarin gel! Nilstat / Nystatin only has a 35% success rate and i'd also recommend probiotics for you both.
Thrush sucks and i hope you get rid of it soon!
