We are getting LO's twin bed in order, and right now she just sleeps with a small thin blanket in her toddler bed (has since she was born, basically). I got her a duvet cover, but I'm worried a full weight comforter would overwhelm her. I'm not actually sure if she'll use the duvet yet or just keep her little blanket till she's older, but I wanted to find a thin comforter insert for the duvet for her to try out. Does anyone have one they like? Something lightweight that won't overwhelm a little toddler?

We got a really light/thin one from Ikea. They have tons of weights and thicknesses to choose from. Do you have an Ikea near you?

We also have a medium weight one from Ikea. We went for the middle rated one for DS when we switched to a twin and it is the perfect weight.

DD1 actually sleeps with a queen size down comforter. It's huge but she likes to make a little nest with it and is always warm when I get her in the morning. She prefers to sleep naked and we're in Canada soooooo.
I'd recommend getting whatever temperature rating you need and going with it.

We got one from Ikea. It's quite warm so she only uses it on really cold nights.

Both my kiddos have regular twin-sized comforters and blankets. Like @oliviaoblivia: , the kids like to basically wrap themselves up in their comforters like a nest. I've honestly never thought to worry about the weight of comforters.

We got it at Ikea. We actually went from no blankets straight to a duvet like you're doing but my LO loooovvvveeeedddd it. She was super cozy!

interesting, i didn't even think of looking at Ikea! i've actually never been to one, but there's one that is certainly within driving distance I could check out.
@oliviaoblivia: haha! yea, LO LOVES to snuggle blankets, I just thought it would overwhelm her since she's so little, but maybe I'm just overthinking this. she does fine with out blankets when she comes to our bed!

DD used to sleep with a tiny baby quilt that didn't cover her body, and when we switched to a twin bed she started using a full size duvet. She actually does better with a heavier duvet because the weight of it makes her not move around as much, with lighter blankets they tend to fall off and she is all over the place in her bed.

@HappyBaker: interesting! that makes sense. her little blanket gets tangled up in her legs and she's always rearranging it when she tosses or turns, so maybe you're onto something there!

We draped LO's IKEA duvet sideways. It sounds weird but it's plenty long enough and this way it doesn't slide off.

My LO was kind of the opposite. We had a down comforter but she refused to actually go under the blankets. If she was awake, then def not. I would put it on her after she fell asleep, and she would subconsciously kick it off right away.
I found a lightweight but warm blanket at pottery barn outlet. It was pricier than I thought but worth it bc she actually sleeps under it
