I can't remember what the OB checks after 2 weeks. I'm pretty tired and don't feel like driving over there. Can I skip this? I feel like everything is fine.

I felt like mine was a waste - I think they do it sort of just to check your mental health and see how things are going. She felt my abdomen and my breasts and we talked about BF. And weighed me and checked my blood pressure

Did you deliver vaginally or by csection? a two week post partum appointment is generally for either an incision check, suture removal, or to ensure that any vaginal tears were healing properly. Other than that, the routine post partum is generally 4-6 weeks pp. Is there a triage nurse you could speak to at the office just to make sure there isn't anything important they're checking?
eta- I work in OB/GYN, this is just the norm in our office

Huh...I didn't have to go in until 6 weeks. There was no 2 week. Do you think you should go since you have had some clots, though?

@thismustbetheplace: vaginally and I had 1st degree grazes only. I will call when they open, thx!

@thismustbetheplace: @Andrea: Nope, I had a normal delivery and I had one at 2 weeks post partum (with my midwife) and also at 6 wks post partum w/ my OB. It is not the norm, but it's what my practice did.

I didn't have a 2 week appointment, they do a 4 week appt only at my midwives.

@Andrea: my ob doesn't do a 2 week exam. Only a 6 week! I say skip it

I agree with @mediagirl: you should go so you can mention the clotting you've had.

Unless you have stitches, an incision or a PP complication like high BP, an infection, etc. I think you should be able to skip it.
I was hospitalized for almost a week after because my BP wouldn't go back down and had to go to the OB 3 days after being discharged.

@mediagirl: @MamaMoose: I haven't had any bleeding for the last day so it was definitely my stair climbing that did it two nights ago. I am remaining sedentary now! But I am still going to call them in a few and see if I can just speak to the doc over the phone.

I only have a 6 week appt. I'd call to see if you could maybe just do a phone appt?

I had complications during delivery (crazy blood loss, etc.), and the Doc just wanted to follow up with me to make sure I was recovering.
ETA: I had both a 2 and 6 week checkup.

Update - I postponed it to next week. They said that the 2 week visit is "imperative" and that they do a vaginal exam as well.
honeydew / 7488 posts
@Andrea: Wow! imperative huh? I only had 6 weeks and I'm sorry you will have to get an exam, that does not sound like fun

Mine just pretty much interviewed me to make sure I wasnt depressed.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@T-Mom: "imperative" but we'll let you postpone one week. er, ok?

At two weeks they checked my weight, incision and did a post natal depression questionnaire

@Andrea: huh. Isn't that interesting. Yet, they let you postpone....
