I woke up feeling sick this morning and POAS. I am pregnant. LO is 10mo old. I haven't had a period since he was born and I have no idea how far along I am. I'm freaking out.

EEP! Take a deep breath mama. Everything will be fine. Maybe not now, but it will be. My sister had a similar experience and now she's hitting her stride with two kids. She loves how the second is such a quick learner from watching his sister. It may not be what you had planned, but maybe it will be better in the end?

I haven't been taking folic acid. I had three glasses of wine last Friday.
I wish my OB was open today! Crisis pregnsncy center maybe??????
I can't believe I was this irresponsible. I mean, it's not shocking. We were relying on breast feeding and pull n pray. We wanted more kids and would debate if we wanted to be on birth control at all (catholic). But I didn't *really* think it would happen.

@jedeve: Congratulations!!! I got my BFP for #2 when my son was 6 months old and it was also quite a shock!!! After I warmed up to the idea I was really excited (while also completely freaked out and scared). Now that DD is here I'm SO glad that it happened the way it did! Hugs!

ClearBlue has a new test out that tells you how far along you are. It can only predict up to 3 weeks past ovulation, but maybe something to look into if you can't set up an OB appointment immediately and are curious?:

(never used it so I cannot say as to its effectiveness)
Good luck Mama! It'll be okay

@StrawberryBee: sending DH out for that plus ginger ale and crackers ASAP.
Family is going to be asking me about not drinking at thanksgiving!!! Am I going to be too sick to eat? Will I be able to squeeze an appointment in before we have to travel?

@jedeve: A lot of foods, especially flour, are fortified with folic acid. (I know, because when I got pregnant the first time, I wasn't taking prenatals regularly *and* I had given up flour for Lent!) I wouldn't worry too much about three glasses of wine unless you were binge drinking the entire weekend!

Thats so exciting! Congrats! I know it is scary and all, but I wouldn't stress too much about what you have done already.

@jedeve: congrats! I know you're stressed but also happy and since I have no advice in just focusing on the happy!

@jedeve: something like 50% of pregnancies in America are unplanned. So tons of people do non pregnancy friendly things in the first few weeks because they don't know. There is no blood to blood linkage until your placenta is formed around 12 weeks. If you are just starting to feel sick I would bet you're around 6 weeks. Just start prenatals now and breatttthh you and your baby are going to be just fine! I'm sure your OB can squeeze you in tomorrow.

Yay congrats! I would be freaked out too but babies are a blessing. Good luck and hope you have a healthy 9 months

Congratulations doll face!!!! I know it's a shock but it will be a great age gap and you will feel so blessed soon. The babies can be so close now. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months.

@jedeve: Congrats! And take a deep breath, and then another one. It will be okay. Just start taking the folic acid (or prenatals) today, and call your OB tomorrow. You'll be okay with the wine too, a few glasses of wine in pregnancy is nothing like binge drinking. Congrats again!

@jedeve: I hope he's able to find it!
"We were relying on breast feeding and pull n pray." Ha, us too, and I took a test last week because I was scared that my sore nipples weren't JUST due to using the pump now that I'm back at work. I got AF for the first time since pregnancy (E is 3 and a half months old!) just a few days ago. Needless to say that test was negative so I can't really say 'I know how you feel', but I know that feeling of dread/excitement. I had visions of having two with the same birthday, just different year.
Deep breaths, it's going to be okay!

Congratulations!
Can't wait to find out how far along you are (as I'm sure you feel the same)!

Congrats! Once you get over the shock I'm sure you will be super happy! I hope to get pregnant again when LO is 10-12 months. It'll be nice having them so close in age! Hope you feel better soon.

@StrawberryBee: I haven't had a period since March 2012!!
@Espion: that was the only time I had had that much in four years. Thought I was safe.
Am I still going to be able to pig out on thanksgiving??

@jedeve: Congratulations!
To echo PPs, try not to stress about the folic acid/wine stuff. And if your stomach can handle it totally pig out at Thanksgiving!

Congrats!
I drank wine until my bfp! And my friend never even took her prenatals so I'm sure you and baby are going to be great!
I hope you can pig out next weekend!

Congratulations! You can totally pig out on thanksgiving - mashed potatoes are the best for morning sickness (or they were for me).

Thanks guys.
Ugh this is kind of embarrassing. I'm 27. We have a kid. I have a MA. We just bought a house. I have a good job. And I have an oops baby????
papaya / 10343 posts
@jedeve: Congrats! you're not the first, and won't be the last to have an "oops baby." Although I'm preferring to call mine a "surprise" because we're super excited about it and it sounds more positive
In situations like this I choose to believe it was just really meant to be! Regardless, at this point it is happening so try not to worry and just enjoy the ride!

@jedeve: congrats! Everything will be fine. Mashed potatoes work good for me too! Hopefully u can pig out on Turkey day!

@jedeve: LOL to the "oops baby" comment. After the initial shock wears off I bet you guiys will be over the moon.
