We have been talking about "wees and poops" with E for a few months now, taking her to the toilet when we go and "celebrating"! For the last couple of weeks, E has been telling me when she is going to pee. She grabs between her legs and announces "wee"! Cute, right?

But today, she seemed quite unsettled about the whole thing. I asked her if she wanted her nappy changed and she wailed "Nooo.... wee....". I took her upstairs to the change table and took her nappy off - thinking that she must be wet and uncomfortable - and she peed there and then! I just said "Wow, wee! Well done!" and cleaned her up but as I'm sat here with my glass of wine this evening I just keep thinking that she was trying to tell me she needed to go to the potty.... but we don't even have a potty.....!!!!

I had intended to take a no-pressure approach and only try potty training when I am sure she is 100% ready. But some of the older toddlers in her daycare room are potty training now and I think she has been watching and learning with them.....

She's not ready! She can't be! She's only 18 months. She can't pull her pants down yet.... and..... I'M NOT READY!!

Do I need to strike now while the iron is hot and buy her a potty to try? Do I need to pick a training method etc or just play it by ear?
