You may not need to do anything now. He's still very young and the facial bones aren't set until much later in childhood. I had an overbite as a child and did not have to have the jaw surgery even though I had a large overbite (10 mm).

LO had a very bad overbite actually and we have been going to the dentist since he was a little over one. I asked her about and she says overbites and underbites usually correct themselves by kindergarten.

He is now 2.5 and it actually is not as bad now.

Dd had what we thought was a pretty bad underbite around 10 months... My neighbour is a dentist and he checked it out for us. He said not to worry, that she was pushing it out on her own quite a bit (must have felt good with all the teething going on?) He said to bring her into his office around 2 years to see what's what but that he expected all would be "normal".
She's 15 months now and I don't notice it at all.

I don't want to make you NOT feel better, but I think it's too early to be able to tell at 10 months anyway.

That being said, I have an underbite. I had braces for 8 YEARS while they tried to correct it, and when braces wasn't enough, they did say I would have to have my jaw broken and wired shut. I declined. I've lived with the underbite and no one has ever made any comments or even noticed it. I have no probs chewing or anything either.

The 8 years of braces was worse than the underbite, believe me
