I've always have uneven production. My right produces 2-3x more when pumping, if I'm engorged when T sleeps through the night it's only on the right side. I always feed her on the right first because I have an overactive letdown on that side and it's a huge mess if I feed on the left side first. I try to feed her on the left side too but she's not that interested. I know my sister only got milk on one side with both of her kids. So I'm kind of tempted to just feed her on the one side. I know I would be uneven but I'm not worried about that too much. She's 7.5 mo and eating a ton of solid food- like 10-12 oz a day. I'm not worried about supply, and I won't get a period since I'm on Depo, and I do have over 500 oz of frozen milk. Any thoughts or advice?

Around a year, when we dropped to just one feed a day, I started only feeding on one side. I can't remember which one, strangely, but I only used that one. I didn't have supply issues (I had a huge oversupply), so that of course factored into the decision. But yeah, no problems or complications.

My GF had one breast that didn't produce much of anything. She stopped BFing off of it but would still pump it at work. I remember her saying that one side would produce something like 20 oz and the other 2-3.

@Jess1483: I'm thinking I could wait until a year but I'll just do the best I can till then. I don't plan on weaning at a year- but going down to mornings/nap times/nighttime. Especially since she has taken to solids so well.@birdofafeather: thanks for weighing in.

You're not pumping anymore, right?
My mantra is to: do what's easiest for you. I'd hate for T to decide nursing is too difficult, because she's not loving the left side, and then associate that frustration with the whole experience. (Al realized that bottles were so much easier than my boobs, and she gave up). *ETA, I think just doing 1 side will be perfect for her, since she's such a good nurser. I think that paragraph was confusing.
Declan's mom only produced on 1 side ... she was slightly lopsided, but it totally worked just fine. She had to be vigilant about clogs while she let that side dry up, and then it was easy peasy.

I fed LO1 on one side from 10 weeks until 13 months. It didn't create a supply issue. The lopsidedness created a fashion issue but geometric prints were my friend. Nursing tanks were my go to undergarment because of the elastic. However, a few times when I leaned over at work I'm sure I flashed my little boob because my big one was pulling the top out. I just didn't feel comfortable with a more structured bra even with stuffing.

@youboots: I did! It wasn't until later, maybe a year or so. But I've always had major lopsided production, and when she started dropping feeds, my left side dropped dramatically. So I just let it dry up. It never did totally until I completely weaned. And I wasn't really that lopsided, only when I got engorged.

I had the same issue and was lopsided until the one year mark and then it naturally evened out. As for bathing suit season, I just took stuffing out of one side and filled it with the other and it wasn't a big issue. My daughter would reject one side completely so I stopped bothering with it. I agree with doing what is best for you.
