@Mrs. Tiger: thank you for that. And I have to say seeing your DS1 thriving has been encouraging to me as well. When I was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital I worried so my for my DD1 but she is doing great. Of course there have been some adjustments as others had to step in and care for her but she's ok and I keep telling myself she will be ok and she will be a great big sister.
I am reading many ARPKD blogs and other stories. This one mom posted on babycenter years ago but it really jusf makes me and DH feel like someday the hard years will make all the heartache worth it

Oh, no. Thank you for updating us on this and thanks for the fundraiser link! I met Sandy at HB meetup and she was such a great friend. I was hoping to meet up with her and other local HBer again. We are thinking of you Sandy!!

And though it is not the same thing, I wanted to offer you some more hope: my sister had a stroke in utero, and half of one of her brain lobes is missing. When she was diagnosed, the doctors told my parents that she could never lead a normal life, never speak. walk, anything. Well, she is now 26, she walks just fine, never shuts up, and is looking into graduate school. All that to say, there is alway hope
