Does your baby have vigorous self-soothing techniques? When LO is feeling sleepy, she shakes her head as if saying "no" very quickly and vigorously with her eyes closed..no wonder she has a bald spot on the back of her head. When she is sleepy and nursing, she rubs her eyes so hard over and over i think she's going to rub her eyeballs right out. Sometimes I try to hold her hands so she doesn't hurt herself, but she gets really mad! Do you just let them do it even though it looks painful?

Yup. Ditto on the head shaking thing! He eventually stopped when he could roll over to sleep on his stomach/side. Bald spot is still there from all the self soothing though!

my son does the head shake thing when he's tired to and has a bald spot
it didnt concern me but my lo use to pick at his ear and scrape it (sometimes causing it to bleed) it was so hard to stop bc he would do it when he was eating and trying to fall asleep. can you maybe give her something to hold in her hand that hse might stroke instead of her face. my lo grew out of it, he likes to stroke soemthing when hes fallling asleep now so i will give him a small bear to hold onto or a little block to stroke. hth!

My LO pulls his hair. He used to do it pretty hard, but he seems to have gotten more gentle as he's gotten older.
