Its still great to have you around! My husband and I were going to wait 2 years but ended up getting pregnant within our first year of marriage. After our wedding I jumped right into the baby boards!

We're waiting, too! We got married in December, and while we're both ready (especially me!), I just graduated from law school in May and started a new job, so I'd like to be here for awhile before I go on maternity leave. We are thinking about TTC in May or June. I still love the boards, though

@MrsBrewer: We are going to do an Asia trip, definitely tokyo & Kyoto and maybe shanghai as well - still deciding. I just don't know if we'd be able to do that once I'm pregnant or when we have a baby so it makes a lot more sense to go first lol!

@MrsBrewer: Thanks - he's doing great actually! He goes to the doctor in 2 weeks to get released from all care and physical therapy - yay!

We do have a few trips planned.. so I've said as long as we actually GO on these trips before baby.. I'm ok with waiting. If we wait for a couple years and have done nothing in that time... I will not be happy! lol
ETA: we've been together for 9 years so I feel like we have done so much just the two of us! But I guess waiting a bit longer won't hurt!

We were going to start trying next month but just found out my husband's company is doing layoffs and he unfortunately did not make the cut. So we'll be putting that off until he finds a job and gets settled in.

@MrsBrewer: I know, me too. I can't say I'd be sad if I accidentally got pregnant.... but life will be easier if we wait.

@MrsBrewer: Thanks... the whole situation sucks and i'm still kind of grieving the decision not to throw away my pills, but i know its the right one to make. I'm glad i have the Bee to come too. No one else in my life knew we were about to take this step and hubs just feel more guilty

We are also waiting to TTC. I'm actually in the opposite situation than most of you. If it were up to my husband I would have gotten pregnant on our honeymoon, but as much as I have baby fever I'm the one who wants to wait (It's sooo hard).

Originally our plan was to wait 4-5 years (we are both 23 and just got married in May). Right before the wedding we change the timeline to start TTC on our 2nd Anniversary and a couple of weeks ago we seriously talked about moving it up to next fall.

We have lots of reason to wait: We both just started new jobs so I'd like to have spent a little more time working before going on mat leave, we are in a process of buying a house and hopefully I'll start my MS soon. Hopefully I'll also try to use the time to squeeze in one more International trip before baby! We are thinking of going to Russia next fall and using it as our babymoon.

While are are currently pregnant, we did wait for quite a while before we even thought (seriously) about starting a family. While we initially thought that we would start after about 2 years of marriage, we both found ourselves in the fortunate position of being able to finish graduate school after being married for about 2 years. We opted to focus on that and then consider trying for a baby.

We just celebrated our 5th anniversary and feel like we waited the right amount of time for us, with our personal and work situations. Of course we would have been thrilled to have started earlier (and I wish I was a few years younger!) but we are also so happy that we waited.

We are waiting. We've been married for about two years now and we thought we would want to start trying as soon as we bought a house -- which could happen any time now, as we're actively looking and making offers. Last year, we thought we'd have a house by November and we'd start trying in December and we had it all worked out in our heads. I am laughing at myself now, thinking I had it all figured out. Now, we're finding that it's much more difficult to find a house that we like in our price range and it seems nearly impossible that we'd have a house by November now. In any event, whatever house we buy will most likely need at least some light renovation, and we don't want to start TTC until we get that sorted out financially.

I keep thinking that once we get that all figured out, I will feel "ready." Certainly we could be ready at any time if it just happened -- in fact, I have been off the pill for several months already because that was part of the plan we had decided on last year. But, the closer we get to making it all happen, the more I seriously question if we want to start right away or wait a while longer! We just feel like we've been saving all of our money for so long to buy a house, and it would be nice to have a year or two to be DINK (with a house) and travel, splurge a little on ourselves, etc. before adding a baby in the mix, because we know that will change everything. I know that sounds selfish, but I want to enjoy my time with my husband a little while longer before everything changes when we have kids.

I am on HB all the time, though, so obviously it's something that we want eventually. Overall, when I see babies, I feel a strong urge to have one. But then I see toddlers and think, "nope, not ready yet!" Ha ha.

@evenstar982: Ditto, that's why I joined. That way I can still get all my baby-craziness out in the open, just in a more appropriate forum (rather than DH or my non-married, non-baby-minded friends)

Quick update: my period was a couple of days late, I was soo nervous. DH was totally fine! Took a HPT tonight. Before we saw the results DH was amazing: "we have a house, awesome jobs, a fish, and a dog.. thats the most important part.. a dog!! i love you!" it was BEYOND adorable.

the test was negative, which was actually a relief because RIGHT now is not a good time. In the new year would be perfect.

I think this made DH realize he wants to try sooner too

Count us in! We've been married for almost 1.5 years and are waiting until next Aug/Sept to start TTC. We're *hoping* to welcome a little one shortly after he finishes his doctoral coursework in summer 2014. I'm getting so excited! I've been off OCPs since January and we are practicing fertility awareness to avoid. So far so good!

We are waiting too! We were actually going to start TTC this Oct/Nov, but I need to get some health stuff in order first. We are hoping to maybe start trying in Jan? But another issue is that my brother and sis-in-law are having a 10 yr vow renewal in Kauai, Hawaii NEXT Dec, which I would love to go to! But I could possibly be uber preggo or have itty baby then, so I don't know what to do!
