I was in a lot of pain when nursing A, for about 2 weeks. I'm curious if it hurts less nursing baby #2 (or more)...I'm hoping so anyway!

Yes, breastfeeding hurt so much the first time but it did not hurt at all for baby 2!

Yes, I never had pain but I had much less discomfort the second time.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I'm still nursing now too but not sure if I want to continue much longer.

This is so good to hear! BF'ing was excruciating for the first couple of weeks last time and I was hoping it wouldn't be like that again. I'm down to the final days of weaning (I think!) and I'm 13.5 weeks pregnant, so there won't be much of a break between BF'ing babies!

It was more painful. Breastfeeding the first one was really easy for me though - I had more difficulties with Baby #2.

I probably shouldn't say this then, but for me it was the opposite. LO#1 was super easy to nurse, didn't even understand that nursing could hurt, and LO#2 was HORRIBLE. My nipple bled, I got mastitis, it never got better, eventually quit at 3 months because he wasn't even gaining weight. I remember thinking that this must be why most people want to quit after the first week. Very opposite experience than I had with my daughter. I'm hoping with this pregnancy everything goes smoother.

I'm really hoping that #2 is easier breastfeeding-wise for me too! Fingers crossed!

It was worse! Baby #2 always had a shallow latch and I felt like there was nothing I could do but pump. Luckily, as she grew, her latch was deeper and more comfortable. I was in so much more pain than I was with my first though.

No pain with no. 2 and we definitely had lots of issues with my first.

I hope it's easier... Didn't work out with #1. Hopefully #2 has a better latch!

Good to hear that most of the responses are positive for an easier 2nd baby. More than the actual birth, I'm dreading breastfeeding since I had such a difficult time with it.

I only have one baby but I'm thinking that when it comes to bf'ing baby number two I'll at least have a much clearer and more realistic expectation of what normal breastfeeding behaviour is! Cluster feeding? Normal! Sore nipples? Normal!Growth spurts? Normal!
