I don't remember an adjustment period after we moved in together? But our first apartment on our own was pretty small, and that was an adjustment! Only a couple in love could've survived that apartment haha.

Not at all! We'd been waiting 5.5 years to live together, and it all seemed to go pretty smoothly. The only thing that took adjusting was our different views on when dishes get done.

Eh not really. We were house hunting all summer, DH proposed the night before closing (so my parents were happy LOL old school koreans), and he was over my place all the time as it was before that... we're pretty much on the same wave length as far as cleaning/organizing/eating so there wasn't too much of an adjustment.

Yes! We had a one bedroom flat and literally no space to get away from each other! I had just moved to a new town to be with him and I knew no one! It was a huge transition and we fought a couple of times per week about one ridiculous thing or another! It settled down after the first year though

Yes and no. DH was reluctant to move in together because two girlfriends before me, they had lived together for some time. We moved into a 700 square foot one bedroom apartment with double bed. The space or lack thereof was tough. Otherwise, it wasn't a big deal.
The condo we bought when we married is only the second place that we've lived together. DH grew up moving around a bit. I worked on grounding that some.

@mrsjyw: Interesting! I wouldn't buy a place with DH unless we were engaged. We heard far too many stories of couples buying a place together, then breaking up soon after. I was pretty risk adverse about that.

Kind of - I had moved to the city where he lived and into his 1 bedroom apartment - so no job, no friends, and tight space that was all his stuff - all I brought were clothes, the rest went into storage until we bought a house. It was a bit stressful - but also kind of relaxing since I could sleep in and didn't have anything to do but look for a job.

A little - I had a dog so he had to build a fence and he had 2 boys - that was a little tricky (they visited on the weekends)

No! It was amazing because we did not live together while dating and not through the engagement period either! We were so ecstatic to move into a home we put so much work in together, and to finally spend more time w/ each other under 1 roof (we didn't live that close to each other while dating so seeing each other was a hassle).

Not initially, because he moved into *my* house gradually, over time! He just stayed over more and more until we decided it made sense, financially, for him to give notice on the room he was renting in a shared house.
Two years after that - and a month before our wedding - we bought our first home together and the adjustment period then was really, really rough. In fact, I wouldn't say we have fully adjusted even now, two years on. Suddenly, we had to agree on decor and my DH has strong opinions on everything. Whereas previously we lived with my furniture, artwork, bed linen, suddenly DH had a say and his ideas are very different to mine. It has been really hard giving up my control....

a little. mr. bird had only lived in college dorms and at home, i had lived with someone else and on my own, so he had some learning to do about how to live with a partner & be a grown up.

It was a bit crazy for me at the time. I had moved back to MD for a job in DC and was living with my parents to save money. They had put their house on the market and it sold in 1 day! (this was during the housing boom) I had to make a decision and just decided to move in with my now husband, then just boyfriend, to save money. It wasn't a huge adjustment as we spent most of our time together anyways.
We lived in sin for a looooong time before getting married. About 5 years!

Not at all, but we were a little different from most couples. In fact, at the time we weren't actually a couple. We'd been really good friends for years when I bought a house close to where we worked. He started staying over instead of having a horrendous commute and I just wanted to be around him more and more, which I was so surprised at. I thought I'd get sick of seeing someone at work and living with them. But I wasn't, and then he made a move and the rest is history.

Not with me and DH. It was really smooth...we were spending almost every day with each other anyways, at that point, so it wasn't much of a thing.
There was a little transition period getting DH used to DS, who was almost 4 when we moved in together. But, they got over it quick.

Not really. Learning about his habits was interesting, and learning to sleep with him snoring and grinding his teeth took a week to get used to, but that's it!

Yes. We moved in together after moving across the country away from all of my family and friends. It was definitely an adjustment.

Not really, actually. We had already started our business before we moved in together so I think we were used to working with each other by then.

It was a lot for once for us, as I think outside circumstances played a role into our transition.
we moved into our apartment on my 24th birthday.. We were literally picking up the movig truck when I found out my aunt had died. It really put me in a bad mood, and the last thing I wanted to do was move into our apartment and figure out how to divide household tasks. A few weeks later DHs grandma got sick and died in July, about a month before our wedding. It was such a whirlwind summer!
We really got into the swing of things after our wedding, though. We finally for some time to relax and figure out finances/bills/etc.

Yes! We had to get used to being with each other 24/7 vs. having me time! (or maybe just I did!)

It was an adjustment for me. I went from renting a room from a family to living with 4 guys. And sharing a bathroom with 3 of them... We lived there for about 9 months until I told him we had to move into our own apartment!

Not really, the only thing that was tricky was buying a house when dating. It was a risky decision (obviously worked out) but looking back we should have tried an apartment first! ha

Nope, us living together was an easy transition, it was the fact that we shared the house with 3 other people that made things hard.
